Because it (sports, especially football) isn't a priority at the University.
No, he's failing because he isn't any good. You have to go back to Gary Moeller in the late seventies to find the last coach that didn't win at least 5 games once. Three different guys have won 10 since then.
Lovie Smith is failing because he isn't any good....Super Bowl appearance or not.

Right now, he’s not an Xs and Os guy.
If you're here telling us that Nick Saban isn't an Xs and Os guy on the defensive side of the ball right now at Alabama, then you just don't do football very well. You're not even capable of carrying on an intelligent conversation on the subject, if this is what you're saying.

Lovie is failing because he is terrible at recruiting. He’s signed two 4 star guys during his tenure at Illinois.
Again, in CFB, your deficiencies can be masked by how well you can convince 17 and 18 year old kids that are the best in the country to come play for you. That doesn’t take much Xs and Os acumen. Take a peak over at BR for an example of this.
In the NFL you have to be an Xs and Os guy first and foremost to be successful. This isn’t a slight at Saban. He’s great at the recruiting game.
The NFL just takes a different breed of coaching. You can’t just stockpile talent. Having a top-notch gameplan ready to deploy is the name of the game in the NFL. Payton, McVay, Reid, Belichick, Nagy, O’Brien are all examples of this. I don’t understand why some can’t cope with this.

If nick saban was hired as the head coach of the new England Patriots this off season they would hardly miss a beat.

A terrible comparison and absolutely false.

If he was hired at 90% of the franchises that make the playoffs this season they would not miss a beat

100% wrong again.
Saban took over for a Dolphin franchise that had 2 losing seasons in 28 years and couldn't hack it. Ran away because the other millionaires didn't respect him and made fun of him.

Believe what you want. You think all the players who have witnessed what hes done at bama over the past decade wont respect him? Hell wherever he goes he will have coached a quarter of the team probably

You're just going to continue to say silly shite I guess.
There are 1,696 players in the NFL and 54 are from Alabama.
What he accomplished in college would have no bearing on these NFL guys. See Chip Kelly.

It's all but impossible to compare head coaches from college to the NFL.

Saban just lets his coordinators do the Xs and Os while he acts as CEO
Doesn't saban still coach DB's to this day? Also, everyone knows that Saban is the grand architect of that defense and recruits the type of players that will execute HIS defense at the highest level. GTFOH with this shite.

No, Saban goes 9-7 and 6-10 in the NFL and quit before year 3.
I don't agree with the other statement in the OP but do agree that he's not a good pro coach because he has to operate under a salary cap.

Did you miss the point above about other coaches winning 10 games there?
A college coach also does the work of a GM, and if you're not good at both, you don't be successful.
