Correct, you can exit lane but you can't interfere with the throw.

That’s why there is a push for a double bag at first base. That’s the ultimate solution not changing a 120 year old rule

In this tournament I can’t believe how many collisions and near collisions on pop flys there has been. Calling it is taught since tee ball

Lmao everyone knows the rule and why it exists that doesn’t mean it isn’t a bad rule. Like i have said a better version of the rule is that the runner can run the length of the base so basically they would have another foot to run. If you exceed the base to the left and get hit you are out
ETA or yes a double bag would also work

Good throw would have had him

I would say move the base over the middle of the line and make the base wider. Removes the issue of having to exit the runners lane but you can keep the runners lane in tact.

There’s no “running lane”. If so, he’d have been in it.
Completely incorrect.

It’s never going to change
Players should be taught the rules and how to follow them
The casual baseball fans are being exposed after that play

Somebody needed to catch that

Baseball isn't a contact sport. The rule isn't arbitrary.
