Title IX basically killed a pile of men's sports in the US. We used to rule the world in many minor men's sports like volleyball, etc before Title IX.

If a sport is profitable at your school, then the scholarships should not be counted against Title IX. That would make it fair instead of just killing a ton of men's sports to make up for college football scholarships.

Bet you will never see a "30 for 30" for what Title IX did to men's minor sports.

I was a newspaper sports editor for almost 20 years. I would get letters from cheerleading coaches, ADs and moms complaining that I didn't include cheer championships or accolades in my sports coverage. After all, "they work and train just as hard as the players on the field/court."
At the same time,
Title IX lawyers were actively (and successfully) fighting to keep cheerleading from counting as a collegiate sport because it would endanger other women's athletic scholarships on campus.

So I never put cheerleading in the sports section. The experts all agreed it was NOT a sport. So it didn't get put in my sports page.
Sorry for the digression, but it is a blowout.
