The midrange shot is all but gone from the game. Its sad too because a good midrange game is almost unstoppable. Everything is a 3 or a layup/dunk these days ...Sad.

I like the change but after 2 or 3 years it’s not going to be that big of a deal. Players will adjust to it

The analytics say it's not even really worth wasting a possession taking a midrange shot unless you just happen to find yourself with a good wide open shot

Yeah, because that's playing smart basketball. Those are your high return shots.

No wonder Bama is such a bad basketball job, with y'alls fanbase in here advocating for more midrange shots and abolishing the 3 pt line

Bro, im not one of those analytics guys...I just watch basketball. And a good midrange shot is very effective for a player. That my opinion just by watching not looking at all these stats.

You're right, there are some players with incredibly effective mid range games. Giannis and LeBron for example are very hard to stop from mid range, but a lot of that comes from both of them also being so effective at driving to the rim and throwing it down in your face so defenders have to account for that threat as well.

A good mid range play can be a pretty thing to watch, but if you're going to base your offense around that then you'll probably die on that hill. There's good reason it's fallen out of favor in the sport. I'm a Spurs fan and Pop is one of the last holdouts in the NBA when it comes to forcing mid range plays. He was a bit Gus-esque in his stubbornness to commit to the mid range game this season and it really seemed to hold the Spurs back at times
