Oh ok. I would typically assume when a team "stops trying" and endangers giving the game away that was a reflection of the coaching staff.

Heupel has played a MUCH easier schedule. Take the past two seasons (2024 + 2025).
Tennessee is 18-8 to Oklahoma's 16-10. Now let's investigate why...
Both teams are 2-0 against FCS opponents. Both teams are 4-0 against mid-majors with losing records.
Tennessee is 1-6 against ranked opponents (final ranking used). Oklahoma is 3-8 against ranked opppments. So Oklahoma played 4 extra games against ranked opponents in just a 2-year period.
How about Power 4 Opponents that finished with a winning record: Oklahoma is 7-9 in such games while Tennessee is 3-8. So Oklahoma played 5 extra games against these types of opponents.
In the past 2 seasons, Venables has a better winning % against ranked opponents and Power 4 opponents with winning records. The only reasons Heupel has a better overall record is because he's faced an insanely easy schedule in comparison.

So basically even though Heupel is better in every metric you are basing it all on the fact that Heupel had one bad year last year where he went 8-5 while Venables bad years have been 6-7.
Ill take the guy who has more weeks ranked, higher AP finishes, more wins, a higher winning percentage, and a New Years 6 bowl win. Everything else is semantics you are looking for to troll TN. ADs must like what they see in heup considering both MS State and Auburn have hired Heupels protégés
