They are nowhere close in receiving votes. Both polls invalidated themselves by keeping both Michigan schools in them.

miami is hard to figure out b/c that qb rarely throws a high completion rate but they got ability to hit some homeruns.
I think G Tech offense is better this year than the last two...they scored 35 or so in South Florida against a solid team. i like them to win the other division.
Clemson plays at G Tech and at FSU, two stadiums Clemson hasn't won much in over the years.
NCSU gives us a game most years...that is almost as much of a rivalry type of game as Clemson- SC.

AND...LOST BY 11.
If you score 38 points against a non-Power 5 school, you should win 90% of the time unless your defense is just terrible.
You seriously think a team that gives up 49 points to Charlie Strong's South Florida is going to win its Division?

south florida isn't typical non power 5 school. lol
i think they could beat 80 - 90 percent of power 5 schools.
I think G Tech may have strongest offense in that division...it just depends on if their defense can be good enough.

The only "non-typical" Group of 5 school is Boise State. They are the only one ever to finish in the top 5 multiple years.
Contenders for Division Titles in Power 5 conferences don't lose to Group of 5 schools.

tell that to auburn who lost bad to Central Florida last year.
i've seen 'experts' pick South Florida to win that conference over Central Florida this year.
i would say Central Florida, South Florida, Houston and Boise State are the best non power 5 and Memphis and East Carolina have had some good years.

One year.
Historically, there have been three non-power conference schools that have established themselves as the exception rather than the rule.
TCU - joined the Big 12
Utah - joined the PAC 12
Boise State
That's it.
UCF was 0-12 just 3 short years ago. Houston was 5-7 the year we joined the SEC. South Florida has never had fewer than 2 losses.

boise rarely plays anybody lol
USF and UCF play in tougher conference and obviously located in one of the best recruiting states.
boise just whips up on teams located in sparsely populated states.

This is how I know you don't follow football.
These are the power conference schools Boise has played out of conference over the last 10 years
2018 - at Oklahoma State (this week)
2017 - at Washington State
2016 - at Oregon State
2015 - vs. Washington, at Virginia
2014 - vs. Ole Miss
2013 - at Washington
2012 - at Michigan State
2011 - vs. Georgia
2010 - vs. Virginia Tech, vs. Oregon State
2009 - vs. Oregon

The Mountain West now isn't as strong as the American because two of its best teams were poached. However, at one point, it had Utah, TCU and Boise.

Like Georgia, Virginia, Washington, Oregon, Michigan, Mississippi

g tech does have to play at lville and at va tech so I suspect Va Tech probably is the most likely team to win that division. Va Tech gets Miami at home too.

looks like Duke's QB will out for a few games with a broken clavicle so Clemson might get another break there. Duke's a darkhorse to win that division.
Duke is Clemson's rotating opponent from the other division this year.

Bring back the BCS computers to determine the playoff teams. No way the ACC, PAC 10, Big 10, Big 12 contenders could come close to sniffing the SEC Championship game.
tOSU, Oklahoma, and ND would piss in your asses, excluding Bama and UGA.

I think WV defense might get carved up by Finley and his WRs. Good pass offense.

The computers that kept Oklahoma at #1 after losing to K State 35-7?
No thanks.
