Still to Dabo. Saban will probably be at Alabama for another 10 years anyway.

However, there aren't any other Saban's and eventually whoever we hire will have a mortal season and the necks will call for his head.

Just the way society is now, unrealistic pressures and views put on the incoming coaches or players. Heck we are still looking for the next cam newton

I don't think he's coming at all, but if we want Dabo and Dabo wants us that buyout won't do anything to stop it.

I wonder how that was possible. Probably that winning culture that Gary DiNardo and Curley Hallman really helped to cultivate

Yea - the biggest challenge for us isn't finding a really good college football coach when Saban leaves, it's finding one that is both really good and embraces the pure insanity of this job. Specifically this job post-Saban.

I mean, I dunno if that person even exists.

Well that's nice, contact should be expiring just as saban is ready to hang it up. Also, Clemson very well could faceplant this season with what they are losing on defense. That would be pretty funny

New narrative:

Scott Woodward got a terrific deal on Jimbo.

Undoubtedly so, but I highly doubt that they will have sustained success after saban. I feel sorry for whatever coach takes over after saban.

You're probably right. I'm interested to see the route he chooses: eventual Alabama HC, or legacy coach at one university ( Paterno, Bowden, Coach K, etc.).

Saban will be here for another 5-8 years. A lot can change in that time frame. No telling what coaches will be hot or cold by then...Pruitt could be a hot commodity at that point for all we know. He's an elite recruiter. He'd walk to Tuscaloosa if it meant being the HC at Bama.

Which ever direction Alabama goes it needs to be an elite recruiter...that's where the game is won.

Exactly. SEC Network money alone would be more than enough to get Dabo to TTown.

A lot can change, but as of right now I have to think it's the later. But who knows, 5 years from now if they haven't won another title and people are chirping a little bit......maybe he decides he wants to go back home.

But as of now I'd be shocked if he left.

Wut?
I literally just made the point that LSU has won despite its coaches.
Take saban away, and Alabama will soon go the way of Nebraska.

Per the Twitters Dabo's contract surpassed CJ Mosley's $85M deal as the largest contract ever signed by a former Alabama athlete.

BREAKING: Dabo Swinney’s new deal at #Clemson is MASSIVE. It will be for 10 years and $93 million, per source ... He has led the Tigers to two of the past three national titles.

BUT WAIT: THERE"S MORE!

Clemson has also extended Defensive Coordinator Brent Venables that is now good for 6 years and 13.8 Million to coach one side of the ball very well.

These two signings offer a tremendous amount to stability to the program that will no doubt make it a very enticing option for the best recruits in the nation.

Tuscaloosa is suddenly going to be 1000 miles from 5* football talent?

Another LSU fan that thinks football began in 2000.

Every Alabama coach (that actually coached a game) since the mid 50's has had a 10 win season. Only 1 coach since the early 20's hasn't had a 10 win season.
