Clay has wanted Bev out so I don't give this report much weight unless they're are other confirmations given/sources supporting it. Clay scapegoats those he doesn't like and who he listeners don't like - Bev has always been one of those because she is female.
I think Bev has no real part in this except to rubberstamp or overrule if something eggregious comes up. So far she's been pretty uninvolved.

Wouldn't this thing be up to the university system board and not a chancellor? Chancellor is too low on the totem pole for this kind of money.

Sorta but the Chancellor does have to approve at least in terms of giving a signature. This is her first year and really all she's done is stay out of the way and focus on the 99 percent part of her job which has nothing to do with sports.
