Fickell is in an odd position. His dream job is... one that he had already. He really wants to be the Ohio State coach but he was for one season as an interim and got let go.

I kept forgetting that when I talked about Fickell and other job openings. So he is in a bit of pickle. Does he go ride or die with Cincy? Does he leave the Ohio pocket?

Gary Patterson went ride or die with TCU and despite dragging them into a P5 conference... they elected to go with die and let him go.

He wasn't "let go", he was interim coach because Urban Meyer was on the way.

He's done a great job at Cincy, and deserves a nice raise.

No they will all tell you how great it is while moving and clogging up the state of SC. Those Fricks are EVERYWHERE. They will tell you how great it is up there, but they never go back.

Cincy is now a P5 team. No reason to leave just yet.

B12 might be easy pickings for Cincy if they can up their status with a CFP birth.

I think the only team Fickell will leave Cincy for is Ohio State.

It makes sense for him to stay. They will pay him well and he is an Ohio guy. With them moving to the B12 he can build a powerhouse there with a better shot at the playoffs than he has now. Why go to an area he doesn't know and take a chance when he can do what he loves in the area he loves and be revered like a god?

Serious question. How can a place like Liberty afford to pay 4 million a year for a coach?

Uhh you do realize who owns Liberty and how they became millionaires, right? Long before milking Christian kids for an over riced education.

Taking a new Head coaching job is more complicated than getting a raise. Reputations have been tarnished when all of the stars do not line up.

For instance, if Sarkisian fails at Texas he has a difficult path back to a leading Div 1 HC job. Taking the right job is just as important for an HC as it is for most of us. It can be a complex decision.

Jerry Falwell bilked a lot of people out of a lot of money and it was all tax free. Liberty is his made up uni with high tuition and still tax free. People would be shocked the money that is to be made from televangelism and religion in general. Only criteria is that you have to have no qualms about stealing from the poor and desperate.
