According to Dennis Dodd of CBS sports Fickell has told his team he is staying.....Now there is a man who can live on a measly 3.6M a year.... He'll probably get a nice raise... Guy has high character and loyalty and it's rather refreshing.

Hugh Freeze just set the non P5 bar at 4mil. Look for Fickell to get at least 5.

He might leave, but I think he will stay.

He loves Ohio and why leave when Cincy is set to be a P5 school soon.

I would tend to trust him over all of these other mercenaries on todays landscape.

Wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he ultimately leaves. He has to play this card as his team is projected in the CFP with a week to go.

But making $5-$6M for the next 20 years without the pressure associated with UF/ LSU/ USC is good money and a smart move imo..

Exactly.
Weird how people find it so bizarre that Fickell would factor in his wife and 6 kids happiness and desires.

I think the expansion of the playoff is going to change the college football landscape. Why go to a school like LSU that fires their coach two years after a MNC when you can stay elsewhere for millions and very little pressure?

I'm expecting more and more of these schools to pony up in order to keep their coach

Serious question. How can a place like Liberty afford to pay 4 million a year for a coach? Do they really make that much money in football. Billy Napier makes 2 million at Louisiana-Lafayette. Do they make that much money?

Is that a direct quote from Jimbo?

$8-$10M per year plus $20M+ to walk away.

If you work 4 years at $8M, fail, and get $20M to walk away, its the same $$ as working 13 years at $4M. Might be a chance worth taking.

Ohio State for sure, because that is home.
Notre Dame most likely because he's Catholic & it's Notre Dame.

Other than those two I don't think he leaves UC until his kids are either out of school, or it's a place where his wife and kids are excited about going.

Fickell appears to be the type of man who likes earning his money instead of these frauds who under perform after getting that contract with huge buyouts....

This is true. They will soon be the newest member of the big 12. What that really looks like in SOS when Texas and Oklahoma fly the coop, who knows.

FYI, Uncle Sam is going to take half of any raise.

Fickell is in an odd position. His dream job is... one that he had already. He really wants to be the Ohio State coach but he was for one season as an interim and got let go.

I kept forgetting that when I talked about Fickell and other job openings. So he is in a bit of pickle. Does he go ride or die with Cincy? Does he leave the Ohio pocket?

Gary Patterson went ride or die with TCU and despite dragging them into a P5 conference... they elected to go with die and let him go.
