You're trying way too hard to twist the statistics so I'll just assume that you're not smart enough to understand the numbers that I set right in front of your face. There's no "relationship" and it doesn't "hold" because you'd have to be an idiot to trust a high school dog and pony show event's numbers over the NFL combine where everything is ridiculously accurate and millions of dollars are on the line. Put Chubb in our anemic offense and he would've averaged 3 YPC this season, he's not physically talented enough to look elite if he doesn't have help from a solid passing game

Hint: you have no clue what you're talking about and you have the critical thinking skills of a Down syndrome third grader if you think that hurts my argument

I realize that you don't quite understand why it's more reliable to compare data from the same venue when assessing the relationship between the two events, and I didn't want to keep twisting the statistics and upsetting you, so I imported your NFL data into excel. Don't worry, I work with numbers quite a bit, it took me literally 5 seconds to import the table and was well worth it to help you understand these rather straightforward concepts.
Anyway, a couple of quick formulas later, reveals that your dataset showed a 40 time that was, on average, 0.31 seconds longer than the shuttle time. Standard deviation was 0.145. So, on average, a guy who runs a 4.3 shuttle like Leonard would run a 4.61 second 40 using the million dollar NFL numbers. But, like I said before, Leonard could be that guy out on the tails of the curve. It's too bad that he chose not to make his number public, and we could have avoided this whole discussion and talked more about his potential similarity to Adrian Peterson. Or maybe we could discuss whether his 4.30 shuttle allows him to make moves like this.
Be that as it may, I can say with a high degree of confidence that the correlation and differential between 40 and shuttle is quite reproducible across time and venues.

Congrats on taking ISDS 2000, I really don't care what the standard deviation or arithmetic mean is, it's irrelevant in this discussion. You tried to present your .3 second rule as a law when it's not that rare to see a player have similar 40/shuttle times. I'm guessing that you haven't spent much time watching Leonard Fournette run because he VERY clearly is one of those players that has a similar shuttle and 40. I don't care if .00000001% of players have similar times in those two events, Leonard Fournette would still be one of them, and that's why I'm disregarding your pathetic bullshite attempt at labeling him a 4.6 runner when real life says otherwise.

The simple fact is LSU fans are too emotionally invested in LF's supposed greatness to admit he is anything less than THE BESTEST SEC RUNNING BACK EVER. They way overhyped the kid, and when he looked just good but nothing spectacular they have painted themselves into a corner to where they have to cling to subjective terms like "potential".
Does anyone want to place a small wager that LF does not run a sub-4.4 40 time when he goes to Indianapolis? (I'm guessing he'll end up north of 4.5 when all is said and done)

Tide roller, hit the nail on the head. They "debate" like hysterical liberals. There is literally no amount of evidence sufficient to change their view.

Everyone calm down. On an LSU site, potential > stats. LF > NC
Heck go ahead and get the guy a bust for the HOF next to Earl Campbell

He broke the LSU freshman rushing record. You're trying to make it sound like that's just average. Of course he has worlds of potential after doing so, don't be ridiculous. Oh wait nevermind, Bama fan.

Not today my friend. Just reading through this thread seeing LSU fans swarm and attack anyone who doesn't say LF can control the space time continuum, shot John Lennon, brought balance to the force, can fly ten times as fast as superman, and will be without doubt the GOAT at every position.

What does that have to do with anything? Chubb had more single season rushing yards in Georgia history not named Walker...which also has nothing to do with this conversation.

Lf does have more potential. Chubb has produced better but every single scout ranked LF above Chubb for a reason.
Not hardly. You cannot measure potential. It is an opinion. You cannot say definitively that one player has more potential than another one. nobody can say what player can be the better player....they can only guess.
