Couldn't be any worse. I thought Chiz should have took it over mid-season, he is an excellent defensive coach IMO.

I think he did take it over mid-season. At least he said he was gonna be more hands on and involved in the defensive gameplan.

shite, there wasn't much he could do to improve the defense by mid-season. AU's competition jumped sky high in October, and by that time the injuries started piling up too. So, if the defense improved it would have been hard to notice. JMHO

Didn't Franklin come in a few years ago with 2 weeks to prepare for the bowl game against Clemson? I thought Aub looked well in that one for a total offensive scheme change on short notice.

Yep. Not sure...different coaches, different opinions.

Personally, as long as a DC is introduced somewhat soon, I don't care if he coaches the bowl game or not. Doesn't bother me a bit.

Guessing if there is a hire he already has in mind, the guy wants to finish out the season.

He said not to rule out a hire before the bowl game but it would be difficult for a new DC to come in with this short amount of time...therefore he will take over DC duties through the bowl...

Virginia only needs 295 yards to make this Auburn team the worst defense in the schools history

I'm not sure why I want this to happen more:

1) Because it would be a badass hire, or

2) Because of the posters on fsu's scout board and one of the threads going on right now.

Maybe Chizik did call Stoops, but it is typical SEC arrogance if they think Stoops will leave FSU for Auburn. Stoops has a better job right now than he would have at Auburn or darn near anywhere else until a head coaching gig turns up. I'd ten times rather coach the athletes he can recruit at will out of Florida than be at the second-best program in a much smaller state that is one paid UF wash-out QB away from absolute irrelevence since Bo Jackson.

Seriously, is Stoops best friends with Chizik? That's the only thing that would give me pause about this. If not, LMAO at this one.

quote:

Auburn is also rumored to have the highest paid PLAYERS in all of college football!

quote:

*sigh* You've provided no proof that that is so, and I can't find an article that specifies the base salary is 500k. There's plenty of articles that list his 2011 salary as $500k, but I can show you tons of articles that list salaries of various coaches as a big number and then further down in the details state that the big number assumes a lot of performance bonuses. I just haven't found anything that breaks down Roof's salary, and I've already spent too much time trying.

So bottom line: if you have proof that the 2011 base salary was $500k, provide it. Otherwise, maybe it is, but you're just guessing like the rest of us. Here's a hint, the article you link doesn't do it.

Regardless, the larger point is that Stoops isn't going to Auburn, though I have little doubt that you Tiggers are busy fapping at the notion he might. Now go pound sand.

quote:

Although, it wouldn't surprise me if Stoops is just trying to use the Barn to work a raise out of FSU... Int he end, he's going nowhere for another DC position.

quote:

You're right. I'm so mad, I'm putting holes through my walls.

But thanks for finally coming round to what this is: BS internet rumors.

quote:

Auburn is not a good move for many coaches. They have to compete by taking bama's table scraps and putting them on the field. Sure they acquire some talent but it is a struggle and they have to work several states to do it. Stoops would not have the talent level at Auburn to form the type defense he will be able to produce and has produced at FSU.

For instance FSU now boasts the nations 6th ranked defense and Auburn comes in at 78th. Bama doesn't fall out of the top five because they are drawing the statewide talent. Auburn is a place where you resume can lose value quickly and Stoops is too smart for that. He is looking to cash in on the success he has had at FSU and take a head coaching job.

quote:

Oh, now Barner, don't be petulant.

First, you'd be wrong: FSU has two undefeated seasons while playing football half the time most other powers have.

Second, all us Noles still remember how you puzzied out on playing us in 1999. Smart move on your part, as it saved you a real azz-beating, but your program is still full of puzzes.

Third, what success you have had is generally the result of SEC-style cheating. I still remember that undefeated 1994 season you had; wonder why you didn't play for the SEC or national title that year? And we all know about the Barn taking a thug that even Urban Meyer booted off the All-Jail team and paying him a minimum of $180k... Oh, right... that was Miss State and only Newton's father was asking for the green. Auburn didn't match any cash at all, and Cam had NO IDEA what his father was doing. Or so we're supposed to believe...

Finally, Bama still owns you. We all respect Bama - and I truthfully hold no grudge against the Barn - but you are all Bama's little b!tches. You know that, right?

quote:

Lets put this in perspective:

1. Lateral move. He's not going to leave unless it's for a head coaching job
2. Why leave for less talent?
3. Why do we care so much? Hudson is already in place as a coach and would be more than a suitable replacement. If he were to go, watch out for the door. Wouldn't want it to hit you.

Free Shoes University should know all about irrelevance and cheating...why was it Bowden had to forfeit his wins that would have probably made him the leader in all time wins?
