I thought he might be a good fit because he coached special teams with Chizik at Iowa State. I'm starting to regress on that idea and wish we found someone else. Our special teams are putrid.

As they are every year. Buffalo will never be a consistent winner. Last year is about as good as that team is ever going to get.

Gill took Buffalo to a bowl game. I highly doubt Chizik(without Malzahn on the staff) would be able to do the same.

Malzahn is making the Chiz right now. If I were an Auburn fan I'd be hoping like hell that he doesn't get any HC offers after the season.

I still think Turner Gill is a good coach. I'm not sure how he ever wins at Buffalo.

However...

Chiz has done an amazing job so far. They haven't played powerhouses but they've looked strong every game beating teams they wouldn't have beaten last year. Obviously the schedule gets harder now but they shouldn't win less than 8 games this year. If they were to play tomorrow, then I'd put money on them versus LSU.

The next couple games for them will be fun. You get a great test for the offense against Tenn. Then you get a great test for the defense against Arky. They're both one dimensional teams so they could be wins even with poor play however the way their units perform will be very telling as to whether they can run with the big boys.
