Chips are down: Does another team winning a natty directly/indirectly benefit your school?

Speaking specifically about finances here. Is there a monetary windfall for other conference members if a member wins a national championship? Does anyone know the breakdown for football/basketball/baseball/whatever for financial disbursement?

I realize many here don't, but I almost always root for the conference, especially in the postseason.

In terms of an intangible benefit, I assume that a strong conference gives everyone a boost in SOS, so if for example your team is trying to get in the playoffs next season, the strength and reputation of the conference alone may help bump you in over another OOC team.

We may hate certain teams within it, but our collective strength helps us as a whole (which I guess is what a conference is supposed to do).

Bracing for all of the incoming "frick your team" responses, in all honesty this is how it used to be universally. Social media ruined everything, like it always does.

The whole "chips are down" thing is fricking stupid. I'm paying more for those just like everything else.

What it does is energizes boosters at other schools.

School tells them “we gotta spend more money to beat them”. So it creates a behind the scenes frenzy of school using another conference school winning it all to push their admin and donors to spend more.

The fans play a part too. Grumpy fans complain to school which adds another boost for admin to push change and spend money.

I do as well for the most part. The one exception I believe is the last time y'all (for you skrayper) played Clemson for the national championship. I think we had enough Bama success to hold us over for a while.

Definitely.

Same probably goes for attracting recruits. Being a player in the SEC gives more clout, even at a lesser-successful program, so your opponent doing well indirectly results in better players also looking at your program in the future.

My humble opinion is another team winning in your conference does nothing to hurt your team. Your fans may be hurt but not the school, athletic dept. or individual sport programs.

Save for bama and Saban pre nil. They were able to pull players from you strictly by being bama. If they were still winning today like they used, I don’t think it would matter now.

The sooners winning it all puts pressure on schloss to get off his lazy arse and find hitters.

I hope. Working for your best buddy probably does create a little less sense of urgency than it would otherwise.
