I remember the first time a clip of that that I thought it was the hokiest thing I ever saw.

But in Alabama that I guess that was a ritual for Tide fans.

Our coaches shows in Oklahoma started with some crappy canned commercial disco style music that middle agers liked... as they introduced the host and the coach. Didn't age well.

It was definitely hokey and awkward but that show was a rite of passage as a young Bama fan in the 70s. I can still hear Bryant saying “Bingo, that was a goodie” when the replay showed a good hit or tackle.

I too remember the Charley Thornton and Bear ritual. Thanks for sharing the memory. Also, the accompanying commercial: "Coca Cola and Golden Flake, Great pair says the Bear."

Bought some Sweet Heat BBQ chips the other day. Tasted no different than the Bham chips.

Wait, Golden Flake is no longer out of Alabama? This is crushing news. Their dill pickle are the goat tater chips.

As a Birmingham native, I tried to like Golden Flake. The Bashinsky family has generously supported some great causes like the Big Oak Ranch… but their chips are just not good IMO.

They must not have been all that great because they never made it to Texas.

Zapps is the holy grail of potato chips.

The original Zapps were the best. The yankee version we get now sucks.

I miss the Tom's stuff, especially the Flaming Hot Cheetos they used to have.
