Chip Kelly will be a total flop

No defense = no success
It’s simple as that. Kelly doesn’t value defense enough and it won’t fly in a league like the SEC. Once again Florida has screwed up a coaching hire.

I admire your commitment to the cause.

Defense is vastly overrated in the SEC. He can easily field a talent led Clemson defense and let his offense do the rest, don't kid yourself.
The SEC defense is more bad offenses than great D anyways.

You know he started as a defensive coach?
His defensive efficiency ratings were always high. His teams averaged near 100 in TOP on defense, yet still finished top 40, including 12th overall in 2010. That's actually very good defense, with three star talent.
In the NFL he traded his offensive stars for defensive players. Seems he valued defense there.
I love all these nonsense thoughts on Kelly.
1. He recruited better at Oregon than the former coach, and the coach after him. His average class ranking was well above Bell's classes at Oregon. Oregon then regressed recruiting when he left. So saying he can't recruit, is wrong.
2. His defenses played on the field most of the game. Were never that bad. He has always valued winning. It's why his record is what it is. What's O's record again?
Stop being dumb. False

LSU fans equate an LSU team with several 5*s, a host of 4*s and speedy southern 3*s, beating an Oregon team with 2 5*s, a handful of 4*s and an abundance of mediocre 3*s is the same as the roster Kelly will assemble at Florida. Hell, Butterteeth took you to the brink with a roster missing 10 players that actually contribute.

Holy shite I agree with rmnldr. He was good at Oregon cause the rest of the PAC 12 sucked to be frank. He had far superior talent. He will not have that luxury in the SEC. To many good athletes to go around in the South on Defense.

Oh brother. Chip is going to be lethal at UF.

Well if current Florida and LSU have proven anything, it is that No offense = no success.
In modern CFB you have got to be able to score a ton of points to win a national title. Look at Bama's supposedly unstoppable defense v. Clemson the last 2 years. Sometimes you are going to face offenses that can't be stopped and you better be able to keep up in a shootout.
My only worry with Chip Kelly would be if he is too lazy, but the same could have been said for Spurrier who also hated recruiting. At Florida you have all the talent you need within a 2 hour drive. You don't have to recruit that hard.

We just cut bait with a mediocre coach we knew wasn't the answer in spite of winning two division titles and went out and got the hottest name in the coaching market that no one thought was a real possibility.
Even if he doesn't replicate the type of success he had at Oregon, what Scott Stricklin just pulled off is incredible and a home run.

14-6 vs ranked teams.
Only one loss total vs non ranked.
Five of his losses to teams with more talent.
Seems like he will be just fine with an even playing field.
You guys can keep trying to convince yourself anything but the truth. Truth is. Kelly at UF is scary. Just like Meyer. Just like Spurrier. He is every bit the offensive mind they are. Meyer called him the best mind in football(I give that to Bill or Saban personally). So keep thinking false statements equate to reality.

Not really. Most of his recruiting classes were at about a Mississippi State level. He had to get virtually all of his talent from places too far for their parents to drive to Eugene. That's tough. Oregon is not a natural powerhouse program.
