I disagree with this. Our Joe was the best Joe this year and that still didn't help us. Guess we needed a excellent Jim?

Apparantly nobody has told this to Texas and ND. If so, then why are they not doing shite with their top 10 classes over the last 50 years. Texas at least won a NC in the BCS era but they should never be out contention in a weak conference. ND is garbage and has been that way for a while now. Barkley is an idiot if he honestly thinks it only takes talent to win games. In basketball he's probably right, but not football.

I believe Barry Switzer originated that... he was talking about the importance of recruiting in college football.

A good coach can coach up a small program and to a competitive level to help generate some press. Then he can land a job where he can recruit some better Jims and Joes. I don’t blame Gus; if he wasn’t happy a change is sometimes welcome. If he is worth his salt he will get his chance in the big time and the money will come.

Have people never heard this before?

I've heard variations. At Miami, for instance, they say "It's not about the X's and O's, it's about the Bitches and Ho's".
