They completely screwed up the 2025 playoff and now they're looking for a repeat performance in 2026

A better way forward ...

The playoff needs to expand to 16 or preferably 24 teams

The G5 bids need to go away and they need to conduct their own championship

Conference championship games need to go the way of the dinosaur

Use a version of the BCS formula to rank the top 16 or 24 teams and seed them accordingly

The first two rounds should be home games for the higher seeded teams

The season should start a week earlier, play night games where it's hot

The playoff should begin the week after Thanksgiving (the week when conference championship games used to be played)

No byes, everyone plays week one of the playoff

The championship game should be played on New Year's day/evening

This would provide all teams and free agents equal access to the portal with a more reasonable window to complete the season and potentially enroll at a new school

You sound like you’re bleeding.

Why not 68 teams?

I agree with your plan.

I do not understand why more fans do not see it this way.

Every other sport on every level operates like you're suggesting. I do not understand why fans think college football should be different.

There is much more parity now and a team that loses two close games (Miami) should not be disqualified. It can happen to any team and it doesn't mean that they are not one of the top teams in the country.

Miami literally just proved this.

At this point I do not give a flying frick what anyone thinks or says, because eventually, what you laid out is going to be exactly (or close) to what actually happens (eventually).

Since the 10 seed just made it to the title game, I’m not sure that’s viable.

Do you think they give a frick about what you think? They just pulled off the most watched championship game since 2014 without a team from the SEC. They are ecstatic

i agree with the bulk of this in general. the BSC formula, or a version of it, should have been this from the start, but as long as their is a human committee, we are going to be discussing things like "good win vs ugly loss", or "eye test" or "1 loss team\late loss vs early loss peaking at the righ moment". all instances of human biases and the potential for corruption. and oh, as long as ND isn't in a conference, they have to go undefeated to get in.

People are complaining about who got in at 4 teams & 12 teams...yet you think it needs to be BIGGER?

No, but perhaps they should as I'm not alone

And lost. And they only reason they were 10 is because of the goof way the ACC worked out.

8 teams fit the school's calendar 100% better than 12.

8 is the number.

Besides, Ole Miss beats Miami if Kiffin is coaching...

Yes, I believe Notre Dame could have been a strong contender for the national championship

No, Miami proved that the format sucks and is nothing more than a tournament where a team can get hot and/or lucky and make it far rather than it being about finding who it the best team in the country.

Indiana would have made the game under all formats, including the BCS.

It clearly does. 16 is perfect, 24 is too much.

There’s no way to do this because of the imbalanced SoS without a playoff. Should tech just get a pass every year if we go to 4 or 8? You have to have more teams u less you truly want the regular season to be meaningless other than conference play. Texas already showed yall there’s no reason to schedule difficult OOC games, go back to 4 and see how may ADs want to risk that

No, the Big12 conference isn't a power conference and the Texas Tech schedule was bad.

We have the same national champion this year as we would have had under the BCS or 4 team playoff.

They beat the 7, 2, and 6 seeds. They belonged. Hypothetical results about Kiffin don’t really matter either, still would’ve beaten the 2 and 7 seeds.

24 teams is way too many. Did you finish in the top quarter of the P4? You deserve a spot in the playoffs
