That’s really the core issue, Indiana didn’t schedule a Power 5 opponent, so there’s no outward comparison.

Until every team plays at least one Power opponent, we’re not comparing results anymore, we’re comparing reputations.

That’s why the expanded playoffs fixes thing to some extent

That’s why I’m saying it should be a requirement, not a suggestion.
It would actually cement the arguments between conferences during the season instead of leaving everything to speculation.

Expanded playoffs help, but if they’re filled with reputations instead of real conference-vs-conference results, we’re right back where we started.

I'm done entertaining the thoughts of a fan for a team who hasn't been relevant in almost a decade and now is hoping he can root for his SEC brethren like UGA and Bama to win national titles in the future

The problem is that 6-8 of the twelve should be from the SEC and they will never allow that to happen. They are not looking for the best .

So, you are implying that smaller schools never paid their players before it was legal?

That said...if Indiana is in the game, fine. But there are a ton of other schools that will never pay as much as the Georgia's, Texas, A&M's, Ohio States and so forth. I am shocked this is even controversial. Out of 130 of the big boy schools, maybe 20 can pay top dollar. That only leaves 110 schools that cannot. Any way you slice it, more teams will be unable to pay, than can pay.

to have that easy of a schedule in the Big Ten conference is an absolute joke
and I'm not saying Indiana is a bad team

and the fact that Notre Dame can create their own schedule and almost guarantee a playoff berth is another problem

Yeah, UGA had its shot against ND and flopped. Same with Texas against Ohio State. The SEC had the chance for an all-SEC title game and blew it.

So if the top 2 teams in the SEC couldn't cut it, not to mention Tennessee, why should Bama, OM or SC have gotten a CFP berth?

Conference expansion. The conferences are so big now you can have 5 teams with 1 loss. Gonna be a huge talking point next year to either reorg conferences or expand the playoff to 16 or 24 teams.
