LSU is being given a lot of love nationally and the fans are eating this shite up. Most are already treating the Oregon game like an automatic win and many fans talk about this defense like we're returning 3 All-Americans instead of losing 3. Early word on Jefferson is he's still missing passes badly in practice and the back ups look much better. Same old story there. The defense has some major holes to fill and the offense only has ONE proven WR and ZERO proven RBs. I'm optimistic at best at this point.

Arky has a lot of hype based on one game where their current starting QB played really well in. However, it was also a game where their defense gave up 65pts.

Alabama has a ton back on defense but do their fans believe either AJ or Simms can shoulder all that comes with that target on their back all year?

Auburn has everyone and their grandma writing them off. I just refuse to believe they'll be as bad as everyone is saying right now.

Florida isn't even being mentioned as one of the top teams in the East and everyone thinks they're a year or two away. I think they'll be the surprise of the season.

The way the roster was set up, Auburn was gonna take a step back this year whether they won anything in 2010 or not.

The fact that everybody has such low expectations just makes them so much easier to exceed.

we won't be near as bad as people are projecting - but then there isn;t a lot of hype at all for us - and thats ok.

I think AL, Arky and LSU all have the capability to live up to the Hype.

FL is lurking - and that should worry the east teams.

Aboslutely. We're ranked 22nd so there's not much hype to live up to, and I feel pretty good about at LEAST 9 wins.

So yeah.

Did you miss the bowl game?

They'll do what they've always done- run, run, and run some more. Sure not having a proven QB at times will hurt them but they can win most games without one.

It's definitely possible. They're such a toss up and a tough team to figure out.

One game /= proven. If anyone knows this it should be LSU fans.

it means that everyone that is dismissing them due to a new coach may get bit in the arse by the Gators.

Question marks for every SEC contender and I wouldn't be surprised if this is the year where the gauntlet of the SEC schedule takes it toll and no SEC teams makes the BCSNCG.

Agreed on AU and especially UF being better than most think. AU's October schedule is brutal and while they have great talent it is very young talent. UF is still stacked with elite talent, but it remains to be seen how this team shakes out with new coaching staffs and a new offensive identity. Still, Boom could make this team into a contender on talent alone.

are you even a fan? early reports out of camp are that jefferson looks much better mechanically and has been doing great in most of the drills, except for timing on the 10 yard outs.

If you look at the defense objectively (without thinking of losing those three) you'll see where the hype comes from.

zero proven RBs? we have 6 fr and so sure.. but the 3 sophmores all got a decent amount of good carries last year.

if anything you said could be considered true, I don't see a WR in our core that's "the guy".

color me not worried.

Not worried...as long as we improve on last year.

So I can't be a fan AND be cautiously optimistic? Jefferson is still missing WRs in year 4 and that was from someone as homertastic has they come.

I am looking objectively. You'd have to be insane to think we won't skip a beat from losing PP7, who cut the field in half, Drake, who was flat out dominant when we needed him to be last year, and Kelvin who was the unquestioned leader of the team. We're going to miss #11 more than any LSU fan wants to admit.

So which one of those RBs have shown they can be counted on play after play? They've shown signs of greatness but no one knows how they'll react to the week in week out brutality of the SEC.

It's Rueben but my guess is he'll see a lot of double teams unless someone steps up and becomes a threat at #2.

I'm not worried per-say. It just wont shock me if we're a year away from the team most think we'll have this year.

I think we can live up to the non hype. No one is even talking about UF, and that's awesome. I hope our players are getting ticked off internally and use it as motivation. As a fan, I could care less about the attention. In fact, I would rather fly under the radar, because I know as long as you win the games in front, you can still wind up at the top, without the attention.

This has been the story each summer and fall camp with Jefferson, since taking over.

i'll agree with the looking better in camp part, but this is the first time i've heard of greatly improved mechanics..

What I'm really hoping is Krags can help where his mind is.

I just hope Krags becomes fully healthy again. I've some major respect for him, what he did, and how professionally he and Les handled the situation. Hard to not respect a man that has an internal illness, but goes to work everyday to help others.
