But you loved him yesterday.

When have I ever said I “loved” Jim Schlossnagle? I believe he was a great baseball coach yesterday, and he still is today. Recent events have now confirmed stories/examples of his character that I had heard long before he came to A&M.

Long story short:
Yesterday: “Great coach. May be a piece of shite.”

Today: “Great coach. Confirmed piece of shite.”

Woodward went home to mama. He’s an LSU alum. Any AD who’s went to a school worth a damn would do the exact same thing if their alma mater came calling. And he was an idiot for hiring Jimbo to such a big contract when Jimbo was already trending down at FSU for years.

The basketball coach who left them to go to Kentucky was a drunk that was a huge bust at UK.

Don’t see how either of these were big losses.

I enjoy how NOW all the talk of his POS character comes out. Would be interested to see similar posts on his character in the last month from an aTm fan. Share if you got em, por favor.

That was always an iffy thing, but even so had nothing to do with what happened today. If it were simply about money Schloss would still be humping, saw'in em off and all that other weirdness.

Name one fanbase that tells stories about their active HC having POS character, especially if they’re winning. Doesn’t happen. People know, but nobody talks about it. Why would you?

A&M has as much "unlimited" cash as any other top notch sports and academic program in the nation. You would be a moron to argue differently as the numbers support it.

However, A&M has certaintly changed their tune with the new AD. Unlike Bjork, he does not have an open check book and has been leaning the very fat athletic department. And apparently this also didnt rub Schloss well.

But if you think we dont have the money, then where is your $84M investment in your baseball program?

The world of college sports in changing too fast for most anyone to keep up. The insane spending will come to an end. It is not a model that can continue longterm into the futute. That is true across any university.

Sadly, each year I am less and less interested in NCAA sports. Becomes more and more like professional sports which I left over a decade ago to focus on college as it WAS about rivalries and school pride. Toss all that out the window for NIL pay checks.

As your post argues A&M’s resources are not unlimited nor A&M has significant advantages over other top notch (financially) programs. That’s not to say money is a problem comparatively speaking.

It’s the attitude that A&M can just bully everyone financially and that championship level success is inevitable that is laughable. Not saying its impossible.

I agree with you in that college sports is not what it used to be. It is now not different than professional sports.

Texas and ATM both suffer from the same disease....wealthy Texan's make up the base of their boosters and there is not a group of people on the planet with more inflated egos than wealthy Texans. This is true at all schools, booster expectations are inflated almost beyond the value of their donations....Texans with money are a whole other animal. If either program finds someone who can do the job of coaching AND manage those expectations either could well be what it looks like they should be on paper. Finding that unicorn has proven difficult for both....

Truly successful coaches manage this. The greatest are notorious for managing it at a high level. Most do it to some extent but allow some of it to impact their programs. It is harder at Texas and ATM than most places, first because of the amount of money...there is a pile of it...but also because of the nature of how that money was earned. Hard to convince someone who comes from the poorest stock in the nation who managed to amass a fortune that they may know how to find oil but don't understand managing a roster.
