Murray in college reminds me of Matt Ryan in the NFL. He's sharp, throws good passes, puts up great numbers, but lacks the intestinal fortitude to be one of the all-time greats.
I don't hate Murray; I don't even necessarily think he's overrated. I do think UGA fans are somewhat blinded to reality with him, but I understand why. He's one of yours; every fanbase would do the same thing.
He could wind up having a fine pro career. But I will be surprised if he leaves UGA with an SEC championship. Last year was probably his best shot.

This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Not to mention, passing records/stats were never the knock on Murray, it was actually winning the big games. Am I wrong on that premise?

You're correct, but he couldn't do it until his final year. Murray could do it, but of course Peyton didn't have a #1 Bama standing in his way. He only had #11 Auburn and he barely beat them.
