I don't see Bruce leaving Auburn unless he retires or gets fired. He has no reason to go to a blue blood when he is currently able to recruit elite players to Auburn. They've always had great fan support when the team is decent and the support continues to grow as the basketball program grows.

So can Auburn be a "new money blue blood" like Gonzaga where you don't necessarily think they will be a final four team every year, but you think they should consistently make the tournament?

How attractive is the Auburn job now compared to where it was in 2014? It was obviously a perfect situation for a team that historically sucked and a coach needing a 2nd chance after lying about a Boston Butt he had on his smoker and having a recruit taste some of his pork.

I think Bruce is a long way from retiring, but I think he is building something special that is transforming AU basketball.

That's wishful thinking at this point. I never hear his name mentioned for any head coaching positions, so what makes you think he would be anywhere near the level of Bruce?

Pearl could coach another 10 years or so, health permitting of course. He is 13 years younger than Coach K.

I think Pearl is there until he retires, and he doesn't seem to be anywhere close to that.

He's 61 right now, I could easily see him coaching another 10 years.

Seems like last year he said he wanted to coach 5 more years.

I hadn't heard that. He's still got a lot of energy for a 61 year old.

It's wild that he has been at Auburn for 8 years now.

Hard to believe. It took him a few years to get things rolling too. Thank god he's here though. He was exactly what our program needed.

If nothing else, he proves that you can be successful at Auburn and that the fans will support basketball if you put a good product out there.

I want to blow my brains out thinking back to the Barbee and Lebo days.

What he's done is incredible. Building that Arena when Auburn decided to build it, just a few years before Pearl became available, quite literally transformed the program.

I was there during the Tommy Joe Eagles/Ellis days (before Chris Porter) and it was pretty sad and lonely watching those games in that pee-smelling tomb known as the Beard-Eaves Coliseum

Maybe, but it takes some luck in addition to having a really good team.

Boy, that was place was bad. And that's coming from someone who frequented pre-renovated Coleman Coliseum 15 times a season

He’s being sarcastic. Steven Pearl is a waste of an assistant coaching spot. So it’s actually more impressive Bruce is able to do so well with his idiot son “coaching”.

What info do you have about why he sucks as an assistant coach?
