Great comparison with ware and our lovefest. I bet ware has the same amount of touchdowns as Wilson has picks though.
I think Knile Davis will have as many TD's as JJ.
We're at an impasse.

9 in the box every down so Ware will be lucky to get 5 TD's next season.

LSU fans don't start threads about Arkansas. I keep hearing this.

Maybe, but ware will throw more touchdowns than knile.

What other choice will Krag have?

I remember when Joe Cox came in for a second half when Stafford got injured and lit the game up.
I'll wait to see how Wilson performs because to me, he is just a Joe Cox until he proves otherwise.

The only thing he has done so far is torch AU for one half last year.
Yeah, came into a game against the National Champs, in a hostile atmosphere, and absolutely killed Auburn, but we couldn't stop my grandmother that day.
He also came in against Ole Miss and sealed the game for us with a beautiful fade route to Cobi Hamilton.

I sort of think Arkansas fans are headed for a letdown with Wilson. If he had started by, lets say, his sophomore or junior season, he would be more prepared than what he is, but 4 years is an awfully long time to ride the sidelines in this league.
The young man has great talent, don't get me wrong. It's just not what it could have been, and the INT's he threw late in the game against Auburn last season gives real reason for concern.

Krag is gonna use the 5 qb system that Memphis proposed last year. sometimes mett, jj, shep, and ware will all line up in the backfield with direct snaps coming to a different one each snap. Also t bob will snap from the guard position on weak side options. Geno from wvu gave us that idea. Game plan for that

Joe would have put up great numbers in Petrino's offense.

He also played against Ole miss when Mallett left the game.

If Tyler Wilson is not on the weed [it tends to make the users' brain and vision a little foggy] he will do great at QB. He has the talent to be one of the best.

Disagree 100%.
1) Wilson will not need to put up the numbers Mallett did due to an improved run game and a improved defense. Arkansas rode the arm of Ryan Mallett the last two years. We needed 300 yards and 3-4 Td passes a game from Mallett to win. If Wilson can generate 240+ yards and 1-2 Td passes a game we will be a very good offense.
2) Its not like he hasn't seen the field any the last three years. He played 12 games the last 3 years (6 games in 2010, 4 games in 2009, and 2 games in 2008). And before you say its against Rent-a-wins he has logged snaps against Alabama (2), Texas, Texas A&M, Auburn, and Ole Miss.
3) Matt Flynn should be proof that waiting for your chance to shine does not diminish your potential.
4) Wilson's supporting cast should make for a much easier transition for him.
--Greg Childs 112 career receptions for 1,829 yards and 15 Tds
--Joe Adams 110 career receptions for 1,758 yards and 14 Tds.
--Jarius Wright 102 career receptions for 1,817 yards and 12 Tds
--Cobi Hamilton 51 career receptions for 977 yards and 9 Tds.
And this is his junior season...redshirt junior but still he is a junior

My son and I bet on an over/under of 3000 yards for Wilson this season. I took over, although I don't think it will be WAY over due to the same factors.
I think it will take a few games, hopefully by Alabama, for the running game (blocking, timing by backs etc) to get on track.

Can anyone explain The love fest with Tyler Wilson?
Sure, I can talk about Wilson all day...
You can't just look at Wilson's stat line against Auburn and then dismiss it b/c Auburn's secondary wasn't that great. The haters want to point to Auburn's poor secondary but don't give Wilson credit for coming in cold off the bench in the middle of the game as the 2nd string QB. Imagine what he would have done as the starting QB with ample time to prepare.
Wilson will face comparable secondaries this year, and you should look to the individual passes he completed to see just how impressive each one was.
Take this throw for example:
Tyler Wilson - 3rd and 17 v. Auburn
On that play, Wilson is faced with 3rd and long and is forced to run left to escape pressure. He was able to escape the pressure, keep his eyes downfield, and deliver a 15 yard dart to Joe Adams for a first down while running to his left. Bad secondary or not, that was an impressive throw.
People keep mentioning Niko Thorpe and his poor pass coverage, but a good QB finds the weak spots on the opposing defense and exploits it. All Wilson will have to do is find one of his 4 receivers in a favorable matchup/running open and put the ball where they can catch it and make a play. Here, Wilson stays in the pocket and delivers a nice ball for Childs to make a play on. One on one, Childs will beat most cornerbacks in a fade route scenario if the ball is put where he can get it.
Wilson to Childs fade TD
Wilson doesn't have quite the cannon Mallett had, but he does have an arm: Wilson 54 yard bomb to Childs on flea-flicker
So even though I think we see a little more running game, and a little more short, quick passes and screen plays with Wilson at QB, we will still have a down-field/big-play passing game that can be employed on any given play.
Here's Wilson's best throw of the Auburn game, IMO. I don't think anyone could seriously watch this clip and then say they don't understand the love fest with Tyler Wilson.
Wilson to Adams TD
To reiterate what others have already said:
-Wilson was picked by Petrino, had offers from other big name schools like Alabama and LSU.
-He will be a 4th year, Redshirt-Junior who has been preparing to start for a long time.
-He has had the past three years to develop a rapport with Childs, Adams, Wright, and Gragg.
-He has led the 1st team offense the past two springs.
-If it weren't for mono, he might have seen a lot more playing time as a true freshman.
-If it weren't for mono and Ryan Mallett (one of the best passing SEC QB's of all time), he would have been our starter the past 2 years.
If you still don't understand, just wait until the Fall and then we can say "that's why."

you realize that these reports come out at every school every year when there is no returning starter, right?
After all of you guys coming and telling us how great Cam was and it being true I just have one question.
Was it the Auburn coaches telling reports how great Cam looked or did reporters actually see him having these great practices and telling about it?
And Hog fans, is the media watching this guy or are they just taking the coaches word that he's playing so well?

I see where you are coming from, and I'm happy that you're as optimistic as you are, but I'm pessimistic by nature and just don't see him being what he's billed to be.
The INT's he threw late in the game when we were still in it are what concerns me. Dropping back and throwing across the middle after waiting as long as he did to deliver the ball is an interception just waiting to happen. Add to that the inability to hang onto the ball that our receivers showed in the Sugar Bowl, and it's enough to make any reasonable person wonder what will really happen. IMHO, it remains to be seen what he will be able to do week in and week out for one big game after another and under the defensive pressure he will face in that stretch.
I know many Hogs fans want to believe games like Ole Miss, Texas A&M, etc. are now somehow automatic wins for us, but they aren't. Neither are the Tenner, Alabama, Auburn, LSU and MSU tilts. The defenses of those teams are going to tuck their ears and come after him week after week, not just part of one big game.
I don't want Wilson to be some all-world QB of the century as badly as I want him to put us into position to win ball games and perform well enough to turn the trick when the game is one the line. He doesn't have to put up huge numbers, just win. What I saw at the end of the Auburn game told me that he had a lot to learn.
