does this really not happen that much in the SEC?

Block seating for Greeks and other clubs. And guaranteed seating for all others if you've purchased a student season ticket package.

Well damn I swear it happened. No clue how you guys don't remember it. It was the one and only time I was on the jumbotron. The camera guy was in the endzone with us and panned on all the students lining the side of it and stopped on me.

The crowning achievement of my college days.

So much more to this story.. Kid came from nothing, walk on, all american, had these awful classes that became legendary, had to work to support family, draft to the NFL, 11 days later hit head on by an 18 wheeler...... Completely sober.

Arkansas kid who lived the American dream.

We rushed the field in 2000 against Alabama. They were #2 or #3 at the time before they started their HUGE skid.

Alabama wasn't in Top 25 at that point. We had already lost to UCLA and Southern Miss, and played like shite against Vanderbilt.

Exactly, I was wrong, but your eyes are similar, if not freakishly the same.

He is a smartass.

Didn't Arkansas rush the gridiron the last time they won the championship?

Yeah I might be thinking of the wrong game, I was really drunk at games back then. I will go sit in a corner now and shut up.

I'm not sure people rushed the field in '64 like they do now.

I'm not saying you are wrong..

Old friends say things all the time to me "Hey, remember when...." My response: No ... "How do you not remember that!" ...... Simple: I've lived in NYC for 2.5 years and Los Angeles for 5 years. I partied my balls off and you expect me to remember my drink nights at Arkansas, ha. Y'all always knew I was the play hard work hard dude. Still pretty accurate today, ha.

Therefore, I do not remember that.

One tiny thing keeps getting left out of the Brandon Burlsworth story that honestly could do a lot of good and help save a lot of lives and prevent some fatal car wrecks.

The road Burlsworth was driving is a notoriously shitty stretch of US 412 between Harrison, AR (his hometown) and Fayetteville. At the time of his death all of it was 2 narrow lanes from Springdale and Fayetteville if you took the Hwy 45 shortcut. This road is one of the most aggravating highways in the world, it's only 62 miles but would often take well over 2 hours to get back and forth from Harrison. I've driven it a few million times. You'd always end up behind a chicken truck going 45mph, some old granny going 35mph, and there were always impatient a-holes hugging the center line looking for any daylight to punch it and get around a couple cars stuck in this long line of cars.

Between Huntsville and Alpena there are only 3 good spots to pass one is right after the big hill west of Osage (where my family moved to in 1826), the long flat straight stretch where right in the middle is the turn down to Osage, and a series of hilly turns and small straight stretches, the best is right after a dairy farm where a creek runs through and gives about 300 yards of hammering the gas pedal just before Alpena.

The local word was Burlsworth driving a Geo Metro or a Ford Festiva, some little tiny crappy car allegedly tried to get past some traffic and didn't make it. I don't know the details, but that's a pretty bad way to go out. He'd likely still be in the NFL today nearing retirement. That guy didn't abuse booze, drugs, or his body. He would have been multi time Pro Bowler and a fan favorite across the league. He was the anti-Ray Lewis, the good guy doing all the right things. He would have inspired a generation of kids to work to achieve their dreams.

That's what we all miss out on losing that guy the way we did.
