If you take the bias out of it, He looks average. Don't be so sensitive, that is not a knock on him. It's his first playing time. Nobody will ever mistake his play for Drew Brees but he wasn't drafted for that. But to say its impressive is a reach. He is moving good, a couple of bad decisions, he will learn that u can't do that in the pros everyone is too fast.

Na dude he looks like shite, dude shouldn't have even been drafted IMO
How old are you? Serious question.
I'm inviting you to join the conversation. Please provide specific examples of ways that Newton has impressed you tonight.
Examples of things that he has done well, but would not be placed in the category of "impressive" would be:
1. Short screen passes, and designed dump passes (his first play of the game as an example)
2. Getting the ball to a wide open receiver with no defender close enough to make a play on the ball
3. Ball security while getting plastered
All of those things are "normal" or status quo for an NFL quarterback - even as a rookie in his first game.
Example of something that he's done that's been impressive:
1. Avoiding the first man on a defensive pressure
Feel free to add more.

I've already listed in this thread what I thought was impressive

He can't help that Olsen and the other white boy decided to drop long passes (granted, there was pass interference on the 2nd long pass).
Take the blinders off. Both guys were blanketed when Cam decided to throw to them. And wasn't the Panther receiver wide open for a td?

He's also lead the team to 2 FGs, while NY has only gotten 1 while Cam has been in. The score would be 13-3 had Clausen not throw a pick 6.
And on the flip side Carolina would be losing 10-6 if Clausen hadn't throw a td.

And your answer to those rebuttals is inevitably sarcasm.
Sarcasm along with serious opinions and specific examples

You are here for one reason and one reason only... to spin Cam's performance in the most negative way possible.
And you are here for one reason, and one reason only - to try and make an average night for Cam Newton seem amazing.
Take the sand out of your vagina.

What did Bradford and Stafford look like in their first REAL game after a full pre-season?

It was an overthrow. They brought the house.

Put it this way: With Cam in the game, the Panthers are winning 6-3.

Not sure... did they struggle to find wide open receivers? Did they throw a bunch of incomplete dump passes and screen passes?
Seems like those things are pretty simple. That's all I was saying.
ETA: I'm NOT saying that Cam is struggling to do those things. Those were the things I said Cam has done well.

Not flaming Newton at all. Simply disagreeing that his performance has been "impressive".

Meh
I'm pleased with what I've seen out of Newton. Anything he's done wrong looks easily correctable and he's shown me that he's going to do fine.
We'll see a more complete picture when he gets the starting offensive line protecting him next week.

Great pass by Cam dropped.
Posted on 8/13/11 at 9:18 pm to superman
But he will also be playing against 1st team defense, not second or third teamers.

Get Cam some WRs, damn. 3 dropped passes.

Why would anyone be concerned with Cecil right now?
