Papaw been in Pruitt's ear about bringing the beef back to the LOS.
LT: Morris: 6'5 320 -- SO
LG: Smith: 6'6 330 -- SR
C: Kennedy 6'3 300 -- 6th yr SR
LG: Mays 6'6 320 -- JR
RT: Wright 6'6 330 -- SO
All 5* guys outside of Kennedy @ C. Smith is a 1st rd draft pick in the upcoming draft and Mays likely ends up a 1st or 2nd rounder (Appreciate you UGA) whenever he decides to enter.
Back ups that will get significant playing time:
Johnson 6'5 300 LB -- SR
Carvin 6'5 315 -- JR
Calbert 6'5 325 -- RS JR
Locklear 6'5 300 -- SR
Butch and his walk ons and 280 lb projects can kiss my arse. Beyond happy Pruitt got that shite sorted out and started bringing in SEC size along the LOS again.

You mean the same group (minus Mays) that blew Indiana off the LOS in the Gator Bowl?

If you're insinuating the same one that's been voted as a Top 3 unit in the SEC by every publication, than yes.

How hard is it? A yes or no. They just need to say something. Now it feels like they’re making a point by making those involved needlessly wait.

Its all about the stars, not how well they played in the recent past.

That’s recruiting stars. Focus on how they did in 2019, which wasn’t good.
You mean when they were true freshmen? (The OTs) Cade Mayes did fine against Baylor, and was expected to start for us at Tackle this year, and their OG (Smith)looked just fine.
Come on, man. I am not going to get drawn into a 20 page argument with you.

Mayes had the worst day out of our 5 OL against Baylor. He was out of position (LT) and Baylor's best strength was their DL. But he performed worse than Truss, Ericson, Salyer, and Hill. Many had said that his head wasnt in the game (mentally checked out and already out the door). I just think that he wasnt consistent. All season. In his defense, he was an underclassman. And I put a lot if weight in 3rd year players being closer to their ceiling.
We won the game. So you are correct in saying that he did fine.

Correct. I think his best position would be guard....which is where he will be playing at Tennessee, provided Morris is up and running. mayes is a brawler on the OLine and that is something every OLine needs. Somebody that is not afraid to get down and dirty very similar to what we had with David Andrews and the Stinchcombs.
Maybe I should go back and watch the Baylor game again. I didn't focus on Mayes, and may have been mistaken. I knew that Baylor's big strength was their DLine and they never did a whole lot during the game, so I may have thought Mayes did better than he actually did.

Yes, base their quality in college on how they played rather in college rather than how they ranked in HS.
Smith is great. The rest aren’t close to great. Cade did not grade out well last year either, but better than the freshmen who graded out very poorly.

And how many times do we say that our team will be better shortly because we have underclassmen as a whole. We have for a couple of years, I know.

Out of curiosity, where can I find these grades. I would like to take a look at them.

Apparently I m not the only one that thinks Tennessee will have a good OLine.
The offensive line has been a weak point in recent years, but the Volunteers should have one of the best in the SEC with the return of guard Trey Smith in 2020. This unit could get a boost if Georgia transfer Cade Mays is awarded immediate eligibility.
Athlon-Perhaps players improve as they get experience? Odd thought, I know.

I have called those publications out for their star gazing over real play as well. Their line of thinking is just as flawed as vol homers and yours.

SDS has them @ #2
A&M 247 has them @ #2
S.I Alabama has them @ #4
They've been the best position group in fall camp and have gotten high praise from the staff. The OL and defense should be the strength of the team.
I think I speak for all of us when I say we'll take the opinion of people who do this for a living over what appears random internet user and likely red, djsdawg.

PFF ranking all of the cfb OL in 2019:
113. TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS
Highest-graded player: OG Trey Smith – 77.7 (14th)
Without Smith, the Volunteers' overall grades plummet and look just downright awful on the offensive line. Collectively, they ranked 124th in pass-blocking grade and 76th in run-blocking grade, all but undoing a great season by Smith, who finished as the 14th highest-graded guard in the country.

It's not a secret the OL got off to a bad start last season with 2 true freshman being forced to start at both tackle spots. They started to flash towards the end of the year when the continuity was there and they became more comfortable with their assignments. Both tackles entering their 2nd season in the system + the addition of Mays @ the other guard spot opposite of Smith is going to make for a strong OL in 2020. Incredible how much sand you have in your vag over this.

take Mays, we don't care. Go ahead and watch his Sugar Bowl tape, he was absolutely awful.
He's a slimeball, his family are slimeballs and if the SEC grants his waiver than that's absolute crap. A kid can transfer from a school he was a starter at and go to another school IN THE SAME DIVISION? are you kidding me? What are VOLS fans whining about?! You want to have free agency season every time the season ends?
If there's any justice in the world, this kid will sit his arse out this year and shut the frick up

Everyone with a set of eye balls knows Cade Mays will be selected in one of the first few rounds of the draft when his college career is wrapped up. You guys sound like a bunch of bitter, whinny rednecks on the subject. It's comical honestly

Which is more apt to happen? Highly rated recruits stay the same and remain bad, or highly rated recruits improve?
I mean, it's not like we haven't seen highly rated recruits struggle their freshman year and improve their next year.
Tyson Campbell for one. Roquan Smith for another. I mean there are a lot more players improve as they gain experience than regress. Now explain how this thinking is flawed.
Is it a guarantee they will improve. no. But it is more likely than them regressing or staying the same.
