Cade provides us with another real defender(not just another kicker who might trip someone up). This somewhat cancels out his short kicks.
Griffith would have the better return yardage against us by not having to risk a return when he kicks it into the fricking endzone stands. So we dont need defenders. Send Adam out there by himself

Anyone else confused to why we are RS Adam Griffith when he has been drilling them through the endzone in practice? Foster's best was to the 1 on average to the 5 to 10. I just dont fricking get it
Over half the time Michigan ended up with worse field position than the 25 after Alabama kickoffs. Average was the 22 yard line. Actually better than kicking each one into the end zone.

With the new kickoff rules, its absolutely amazing that this fricktard still can't get the ball into the endzone...
My only "consolation" is the thought that maybe he's being directed to keep it out of the endzone...

would be better to just sky kick the shite out of a kickoff and have your special teams haul arse down there and nail the returner asap...with a good skykick, anything's possible.

A small part of me thinks this may be the case, but I have no way of knowing for sure.

Nah, he's just too built to kick. He could easily start for half the SEC teams at middle linebacker
Bama is that staaaaaacked.

So they would start at the 25 instead of the 22?
And you think that is better?

I hate dumbass Bama fans... Do you really think a guy who was hitting kick offs thru the goal posts on a regular basis in hs can't kick it to the end zone in college? Saban doesn't want to put 4&5* guys on the field just to run down to the end zone.. He wants them knocking the shite outta folks add setting the tone for defense... Had it not been for that you really wouldn't know much about Vinnie or Trey... UM avg to the 23.. 2yds shorter than touch backs. Ijs

Since we stop them at the 22 every time right? because Michigan got past the 30 at least twice.

Do you know what average means?
Posted on 9/6/12 at 11:54 am to cajunsack
do you understand what "average" means?
and i'd say there is a better chance of us causing a fumble on a return than letting somebody go 99 yards for a TD.

This is why the average is the important stat here. I think MI started at the 5 once and the 14 once. If executed correctly, I think most teams could force a better average than the 25 by kicking it high between the goal line and 5.

Same chance someone takes it to the house like it happened multiple times last year. And idc about the average, thats one game. Last year he was absolute shite and made 2 of 9 FGs. Idk why you guys want to defend Foster when I know all of you have bashed him in your time watching him.

This has literally nothing to do with kickoffs.

You dont say... I am just pointing out another reason he sucks and Griffith > Foster

I'll reserve judgment until I actually see Griffith in action besides HS or a scrimmage.

Main point is that you play the best fricking kicker and it is pretty clear Griffith is the better kicker because my FG percentage sitting on my couch isnt far off from Foster's and I can throw almost as far as Foster can kick

Shelley is a Senior and Foster is a Junior. Shelley is pretty good at the short stuff and Cade just made a 51 yarder in the last game. He is only asked to try the longer ones so his percentage will be lower than it should be. As far as kickoffs are concerned, if we kick it deep into the endzone, the other team will take a knee and get it at the 25. Saban may have enough confidence in our kick coverage to believe that we can stop them before they reach the 25 thus kicking it in the endzone is not necessary.
Also, there is no reason to burn a red shirt if you don't have to.

Perhaps Saban thinks his ST unit is quick enough to get down the field and prevent the returner from getting to the 25 yard line.
This Saban fella may have an idea of what he is doing.
Crazy talk. Let's just give it to them on the 25 without a fight.

So was this strategy of Saban's also in place last year, when Foster couldn't get a kick to the endzone and it only came out to the 20 on touchbacks?
