I was actually thinking about this comparison Saturday night. They both have the exact same issue.. physically they have all the tools, but they are too slow to process what they see. You can fix a lot of things with a QB, but that's probably the hardest thing to fix.

Does BB seem kind of aloof to anyone else? Gives me those vibes. On Saturday I didn't really know what folks were talking about with the diamond necklace, then today I saw a pic. He was wearing a diamond necklace during the game. Are you effing kidding me? I think we may have a guy that got paid and doesn't really have 100% buy in. This was and is the danger of NIL.

And guess what? Next year we will have some other teams reject at QB
I’ve said this multiple times but I’ll say it again. The last starting QB Auburn signed out of highschool, and used up all of their eligibility was Brandon Cox. Before him it was Jason Campbell. From that point forward the program became hamstrung with relying on transfers to fill the position. Chris Todd, Cam Newton, Nick Marshall and right on thru to the present day. You are welcome to overlay the win loss record on top of it and see how the loss of in-house qb development coincides with the downward trajectory of the program.

I think you would find a lot of programs have had this same dilemma. Maybe not so much with the overall win-loss record, but with high school QBs and staying in one spot. Used to be that players would stack up at a position and wait for their turn to showcase, but once the transfer portal became a thing - that's a relic of the past.

You’re looking at this through the modern transfer portal. There was no transfer portal in 2007 yet this program decided way back when to go that direction. Chris Todd came with Tony Franklin, then Cam, Nick, Stidham, and a whole host of others. Auburn decided to shortcut the development of the most important position on the field because they became desperate to compete with the Bamas and UGAs.
Why would any quality hs qb sign here when we have a 20 year track record of grabbing retread qb’s off the college football trash heap and ignoring the guys on the roster? We lost a pretty decent one last off season because we had to have BB and half the UCF roster for some dumbass reason.
My biggest gripe with AUburn is that they were a consistent top 5 program in the league who began acting like a bottom 5 program because they didn’t want to compete with the Saban machine. They folded immediately instead of putting in work like the program had always done. They caught lightning in a bottle twice and it only reinforced the moronic direction of the program.
