The consequences of Covid is not just death. There are many long term issues which include heart problems, lung issues and brain bleeds. Death is just part of the equation and the hospitals are full of the under 55 crowd that didn't get vaccinated.
Yes, you can get this newest variant even if vaccinated. Especially if you have a compromised immune system but it's rare for someone even relatively healthy and vaccinated to end up in the hospital.
I don't get anti-vaxxers, they do know that Trump took the vaccine and recommended it don't they?

Actually Trump had Rona last October and said he's not taking the vaccine because he had the antibodies. But he does recommend it highly.

Vax resistance crosses the political spectrum. Pitt just did a study back in July and the group with the highest level of hesitancy were PhDs.
Obviously, there a LOT more blue collar types so numerically they're more significant to the virus spread but it's certainly unfair to portray them differently when PhDs think the same way.
Remember, less than a year ago the current president and vice president both said they wouldn't take the vaccine and IIRC Biden said it was dangerous.

The 36 year old female with no underlying conditions we transported this morning would like a word, but she can't because she's got a tube down her throat now.
I do not now and have not from day 1 advocated shutting down the world. While I'm vaxxed and strongly encourage everyone else to get vaxxed, I'd also stand at the head of the line to oppose anyone who suggests making someone one get them.
Now, with that out of the way, the one other thing that must be said is Rona ain't the damned flu. Not in any way.
