FWIW, his bio reads:

You dislike me. That's OK. That's why you're here, right? You were reading something I wrote and you simply had to know: Who is this knucklehead?

This knucklehead is 39. Yeah, I look younger. But I'm not. I've worked for the Tampa Tribune, Miami Herald and Charlotte Observer. Once worked for ESPN.com. They asked me, not the other way around. And I left ESPN.com in 2003 for CBSSports.com.

This knucklehead graduated from Florida. So I'm a Gator homer? Don't think so. Read this and tell me I'm a Florida homer.

Basically, take what you think you know about me -- your assumptions about the typical sports writer -- and start over. I really am that unbiased, I really am that athletic, and I really will beat you up. I started boxing at 36, had four amateur fights and won all four (three knockouts), and then retired because the pros I spar with kept breaking my nose. So I take it back: Maybe you can beat me up.

But only if you're a pro boxer.

And a good one.

But enough about you.

My likes: Chuck Palahniuk, when he's on. Esquire. Eminem. Tupac. Sparring. That stud Matt Taibbi. Dogs.

Dislikes: Chuck Palahniuk, when he's off. Sports Illustrated. Beastie Boys. Kanye. Surfing. That idiot George Will. People.

It was a little hard even for Ole Piss. He could have toned it down a little.

What's this guy gonna say if Ole Miss finishes 10-2 or 9-3?

Just like pollsters shouldn't have elevated Ole Miss so high this early, it is just as much a mistake to write them off this early.

THey are a talented football team that didn't appear to be able to handle the pressures of a lofty ranking. Perhaps, now that that pressure is gone they will perform just fine. OR, they will end up like the 2000 Alabama team that started No. 3 and finished 3-8. I vote they finish the year just fine.

Well, I don't think he is going to have to worry about that, but I think he was a little harsh. It was the media that ranked Ole Piss that high. They should have known it was a HDN coached team. Of course they are only Ole Piss......

He's definitely gone a little over the top but he's also speaking some truths. I've never liked polls for some of the reasons he outlined. How do you select the best teams the first 3 or 4 games into the season? Look at Washington compared to USC who is always ranked high and the voters just hoping Notre Dame might start the season 4-0 so they can put them near or in the top 5. We all know Ole Miss was overrated due to hype. Houston Nutt took advantage of the opportunity hoping his team would evolve into a national contender. LSU has benefited starting the season in the top 5 in recent years and quickly becomes the #1 team. Bama is taking advantage of this right now and Ole Miss was also. LSU fell from grace due to our lack of a QB last year and bad defensive coaching last year. The sad thing is if the posters rank you high then the only way you fall in the polls is if you lose. That's my biggest beef. If a team is not playing well then they should drop even if they are winning. I would like to see a lot more movement in the polls.

So polls are just that, POLLS! League standings are the only real measure except for that dang BCS mess which needs to go away and be replaced with a playoff system.

While I agree on some level, that dude is a dumbass if he doesn't understand that Ole Miss beat undisputed #1 UF in the Swamp last year and treated TTech like a redheaded stepchild in the Cotton Bowl...and returned much of that team against an easier SEC schedule.

That's why they were #4. However, us in the SEC know that Ole Miss will choke when the pressure is on.

But, that's our SEC sibling and he needs to watch his mouth.

8 game win streak, beat Florida last year, blew out Texas Tech (the media darling) in bowl game. I guess they deserved to be ranked where they were as much as anyone.

That being said, I enjoyed every minute of last night's game.

Not really bashing USC/Pac 10, but he does have an article about Tressel > Carroll.

Wow. Just wow. I can't stand Ole Miss football myself, but give me a break. You would think he's comparing them to child pornography or methamphetamines.

Nah probably got tired of hearing how great a program, that hasn't won diddly in 30 years BTW, Ole Miss really is...just liking the majority of non-Ole Miss peeps.

Win something and you can strut and act like you belong. Acting that way before you win anything gets this kind of column.
