It should be Broome, it probably will be Flagg.

Damn, Auburn needs some grants to research on how to have student athletes age gracefully

Broome was the best player in the toughest conference we have ever seen. He should win it based off of the level of competition alone.

But there’s a white Duke player who has flashy dunks. Screen time addicts and 75 year old journalists will push Flagg to the award.

Yeah man, the NPOY is rooted in systemic racism with the last white player winning it in 2016

Have no problem with someone thinking Flagg should win but this is just dumb.

Is that all you think Flagg does? Flashy dunks?

He also kicked Auburn’s arse head to head while scoring 22 points

Weird how this is omitted in this discussion eh? EH?

Literally in the OP:
quote:

In the one game they played H2H (on Duke’s floor), Broome was 20/12/4/1 and Flagg was 22/11/4/5. Maybe slight advantage Flagg.

You're kind of an idiot.

No? Casual fans/media will gravitate to a player like Flagg over Broome though. Flagg had greats stats against far inferior competition. Broome should win it but he won’t. It’s not that big of a deal.

I respect your opposition and opinion, but Cooper is 4 years younger and exponentially more versatile and athletic than Broome.

Respectfully, if you believe they are even close athletically, then perhaps you're "dumb".

Umkay.

Explain to everyone here how your 5th year 22 year old is athletically superior to the Freshman 18 year old.

Broome plays 5 ft. and in 90+% of the time. So I can't wait to hear how versatile he is.

Compare their stats against 2025 Sweet 16 opponents to get a more even playing field to compare…

Games played:
Broome: 15
Flagg: 5 (LOL)

Points per Game:
Flagg: 23.6
Broome: 20.8

Field Goal Percentage:
Broome: 53.9%
Flagg: 43.6%

Rebounds per Game:
Broome: 11.4
Flagg: 8.8

Blocks per Game:
Flagg: 2.2
Broome: 1.7

Assists per Game:
Flagg: 3.8
Broome: 2.9

Steels per Game:
Flagg: 1.0
Broome: 0.9

Turnovers per Game:
Broome: 1.8
Flagg: 2.4

Assists to Turnover Ratio:
Broome: 1.59
Flagg: 1.58

Both lead in 4 of the statistical categories noted above.

The fact that Broome had to take the wear and tear of playing 15 Sweet 16 caliber opponents during the season compared to just 5 for Flagg is the obvious difference maker. That puts Broome’s performance way out front.

And 9 of the above 15 opponents Broome faced made the Elite 8… Flagg faced just 2 all season.
