NCAA rules for a staff member to recommend a financial institution to graduating players?

It's against the LAW... I have no idea if the NCAA doubles down on activities that would be illegal though.

Regardless, dude needs to be punished for his crimes.

Maybe you should read the story. The things he did don't bear any resemblance to the current situation. To my knowledge, he's never once been accused of personally profiting off his players.

I read it. He was charged by the NCAA with unethical conduct. What's going on at AU is definitely unethical conduct. Maybe he knew what Person was doing and even instructed it, maybe he was completely in the dark. I'm just saying he doesn't have a squeaky clean record as a guy of high moral character. Avery is basically the complete opposite of that.

Yep, sounds like a super high character guy. Not shady at all.

However most of the assistants in Bball are making maybe 45-60K a year.

2-400k

PErson was making 250k

and there are plenty of assistants and personnel making under 200k in CFB

I think due to the highly competitive nature of CFB recruiting and the fact that these kids are on campus for a minimum of three years helps to mitigate the whole agent thing . Actually on all of that, Saban really educates his players very well about the agents .

Luther Davis was a runner and paying Bama players(Fluker and Stinson) its happening on other levels already in football, we just dont know if it goes down the same rabbit hole.

You two guys going back forth is amusing.

Both schools have individuals who fricked up and are going to jail. Neither points to a culture of cheating or illicit activity on their own for each school; OTOh, it does do that for the company(ies) engaged in all this.

Yep, the guy we hired directly from NCAA compliance. Maybe the NCAA is corrupt and will be shut down?

I'd love to hear the motive for this.

Hey Chuck, go get some extra money by pimping out my best players, making them ineligible, and encourage them to leave school early for the draft.

I've said our dude should be punished and if it turns out to be more involved, everyone involved should be punished. Frankly, I care about as much for college basketball as I do about watching a NASCAR race. I'm just saying one head coach has a history of NCAA violations, lying to cover up and the other guy nothing of the sort. Those are indisputable facts. One has a history, the other does not. Fact.

IIRC, he had some 'bump' rule issues too but yeah, other than the stupid decision about the cookout there's nothing in his history that shows he's any worse than your typical college coach.

I like it.

If Person was paying current players, what makes you think he wasn't paying AU recruits? It's not like he was just lining his own pockets.

Your administration has a history of hiring guys who lie to the NCAA...

Because Person's phone was tapped. Louisville just got busted for buying a player. Auburn didn't.

Keep trying to connect dots that aren't there.

If you want to go back to the 90's and make this a historic comparison of NCAA violations...we can, but you probably don't want to go down that path as an AU fan.

Sure, let's start from the 90's. Go.

ETA Or just in your lifetime. Compare.
