Thanks LF7.

This LSU fan had zero problem with Fournette's decision. I'm sure it looked bad from the outside but at 7-4 headed into the prestigious Buffalo Wild Wings bowl I wanted Leonard to be ready and healthy for draft day.

It was meaningless for 80% of the teams in late October

I'm not disagreeing.

Eh. Bowl games are for next year's team unless you are in the playoff. Texas might as well let a guy play that will be there next season

Yep, the best way to mitigate this issue is to let Red Shirts play in bowls without the eligiblity hit. Build excitement for the next players up.

Bowls should move to the beginning of the season and then have playoffs after the season...

Would be great Drama to announce Bowls in January for September.

It’s the least they can do.

Clearly it is not the least they could do.

Like stated above, bowls are good for recruiting and getting the younger guys more practices/experience. They do almost nothing for a guy who will be entering the draft in a matter of months.

Also, outside of maybe 5 post-season games, they don't really matter. I mean who really cares that Fournette missed the Citrus Bowl. Or that McCaffrey missed the freaking Sun Bowl. I would have no problem with a guy like Minkah sitting out if Bama misses the playoffs, in fact I think it might even be better for the team long term

The bowls will soon be in trouble because ESPN is in trouble. Another round of layoffs. It is just a matter of time before they start cutting back on the bowls. I think they own half of them anyways.

I don't necessarily blame the guys protecting their NFL future. Maybe the trade off should be if you want to sit then sit, but your scholarship ends at that point since the scholarship was for playing football? I don't know how you would really police that (are you legit injured? or just voluntarily deciding not to play?).

If schools are required to carry insurance on every player to ensure they get paid either way, then yeah I agree with you.

because they are entitled to get paid. lets forget the free education with all the fixings they received for that entire year and all the free marketing they receive for that future payday they are so entitled to get. it's a 2 way street.

They "belong" to the school via their scholly commitment.

Agree with others saying that they should pay something back if they dont chose to sit out a game.

The nfl is imploding right now, so things are going to slowly change. Poor black kids that have skated off the field will end up being the most affected.

The Bowls/Cities are at the mercy of he TV sponsors. Once the money is spent to advertise then it is over for the lesser Bowl games. If he were just for tickets sells then it would already be over.

JMO but college football has peaked. They better get to 8 games in the playoffs.

Just make it where you can't play any starters in bowl games. Give the backups and new guys a chance to play.

Bowl games (outside of the playoffs) are meaningless anyway.

Fournette was truly hurt
McCaffrey wasn't

Rumor is Texas players can't stand Herman
That could be good or bad, either you have some bad seeds in the program or wait till you get Herman's players in.
