I would like to congratulate Mr. Long and whomever else made this call. It is a move which shows integrity in the face of much fan opposition. It will also earn the respect of other fan bases around the country not to mention the families of future recruits. It shows that the university cares more about doing what's right rather than winning at any and all costs.

If he refused to accept the sanctions, then they had no choice but to fire him. Concerning her hiring, I would need to see the details before I start throwing stones at the guy.

That's it exactly.
Anybody who thinks Petrino was fired because Arkansas was concerned more about morals than winning is insane.
Arkansas didn't want this dragging on and on and sure as hell didn't want to open themselves up to legal trouble because Petrino hired his frick buddy.
The withdrawal method was Arkansas' best option at this juncture. It was time to pull out.
