Gonna sit out a year and wait for LSU to come, hat in hand.
Terri Saban has already given him the name of her usual Baton Rouge realtor...

Is it possible the PTB at the school told him they're going to try to get in the SEC and he could either embrace it or bow out? Just a thought.
I thought this as well. Getting the hell out of Dodge before Dodge comes to him. I could see the PTB telling Bob that the Big XII was set to implode and the play for OU was to the SEC. Stoops wanted no part of the SEC West grind and bowed out now to let Lincoln Riley get some coaching experience in the big chair since he will definitely need it.

A - These are games against Okalahoma from 1999-present on this website. https://www.winsipedia.com/oklahoma
I clicked on the SEC schools & the light blue "compare" link. Underneath the SEC team's logo in the upper right on the new page is a light blue "full games list page". I got the record from 1999-current.
B - https://www.winsipedia.com/games/oklahoma/vs/lsu
Date
Location
OKLA
LSU
1/4/2004
New Orleans, LA
14
21
Sugar Bowl
1/2/1950
New Orleans, LA
35
0
Sugar Bowl
I'll admit I got this backwards.

" You should stick to topics you know something about rather than talking out your arse."
True. Dat. Sumlin gone. No want Stoops. Bad Ticker. His protege Brent Venables would be fine tho.

No.

I think Oklahoma is coming to the SEC. Stoops said, "I'm out!"

I could see him going to Florida. Auburn if they move to the East. But Stoops doesn't have the balls to play in the West against Bama and LSU every year.

Bob Stoops is taking a year off to be Dan Mullen's intern/grad assistant

me either. the guy has plenty of money and has decided to shuck a lot of stress and enjoy some things in life he's missed because of the workaholic profession he's been in.
could be his doctor explaining some things to him and it could be the health of someone is his family.
I retired at that age (56) at the top of my game due to the frickin' stress and long hours it required to stay on top. he has made enough money that he can't spend it all in his lifetime.

he's going back to school to learn from dan mullen... He couldn't get in to the bama program... but you gotta admire his dedication to improve his craft

Saban close to retirement
The program he just beat in a bowl game
LSU coached by Coach O
Ole Miss getting as close to the death penalty as possible.
A&M, who OU has historically destroyed
Bert
and Miss. State
is it really a bad time to be hitting the SEC West?

F OU and Stoops, but c'mon.. they'll play anybody anytime. OOC scheduling is always strong.

Finebaum caller just made good point: Stoops fed up with Big 12, will hinder OU going forward on national stage. The lure of the SEC is hard to resist for Stoops. Again, 18 years at one school and he's still relatively young and admitted today his health is fine. He'll relax this year, take some deep breaths, have fun, them boredom sets in and his calling will take over.

Will be on PGA golf courses nationwide with Spurrier and touring through Tuscany with the wife. Book it.

If you believe there's the slightest culture of fear, hesitation, or intimidation about the SEC in Norman right now amongst our coaches, in any sport, you're a complete moron.
