There are talks going on right now about KU & OU jumping to the B1G. I think the PAC is the most realistic though. It's ultimately gonna come down to who is willing to take OSU along with us
B1G isn't taking anyone that is not an AAU school. If they were, they would've taken FSU. And the Pac won't take OU without the sips. If they were going to, then I think you and OSU would've jump a year ago. Now they may take OU & KU, but they aren't takeing OU & OSU.

If by "made the Aggies quit" you mean were crappy business partners that made the conference unbearable to the point that 4 top 25 all-time programs left the conference, then yes, I will concede that the fricking longhorns made A&M "quit" but I don't blame any of that on OU.

I don't want to knock Oklahoma's education, as I have many friends and family that have degrees, and some are quite successful. But from a prestige standpoint you'd be in the interchangeable lower end group with LSU, UT, Arkansas. State schools that don't do anything particularly outstanding, and aren't really hotbeds that are going to attract lots of talent. Oklahoma is a fine school, and you can get a great education there, but in-state Tulsa is a better school, and the Texas kids they grab, on average, are not as good the ones at A&M or tu... again... what conference you're in has nothing to do with this. Coincidentally enough I know and Oklahoma grad that I went to high school with that works on Wall Street and makes ridiculous money and an LSU grad that works for Chase in Dallas that also makes a shite ton more than me. None make more than a guy all of know that never went to college. It is what it is. I'm rambling.

If only I wasn't full of sh*t just now. Though I like to think I was fairly mature for a teen.

I love how the Sooners think leaving the Big 12 had anything to do with them. What tu was trying to do, and leverage against us with the LHN, and try to tote us along to the Pac definitely played a role, as well as a lot of other things like the SEC being fricking awesome, but Oklahoma being a lap dog and quietly doing everything tu wanted like a silent lap dog was not one of those things.

And I don't think the Pac 12 or any conference takes UTx as long as they have the LHN.

They definitely tried to go to the Pac 12, but were not welcome the second time around. I'm curious if they ever try again. Tell tu to get bent, and take KU, OSU and Texas Tech, and reapply. KU, Tech, OU, OSU, Colorado, Utah, Arizona and Arizona State seems like it would be an okay eastern division. I just don't think the Pac 12 really wants to deal with that.

They definitely won't. Which is why Oklahoma is sort of out of options. I seem sort of at a loss as how they could have even make the Big 12 stronger. Getting WVU was a huge mistake that is really going to be a pain in the arse. Houston, Tulane, Tulsa, Memphis, Arkansas State, UAB? Who does the Big 12 grab to get reasonable regional symmetry? All the relevant powers in the region bolted. I hope none of them still legitimately cling to the belief that WVU and TCU were upgrade over Mizzou and Texas A&M. The fact that any of them believed that in the first place blew my mind.

I have said since WVU went to the Big 12, I thought VT would be perfect for them. Gives WVU a natural rival, and near-by team. Plus I just want to see that rivalry come back. Mizzou fans talk about the KU rivalry dating back to the Civil War, well so does that one. They left the state to stay with the Union.
ETA: which yea, I guess ACC teams are off the table now. Too bad, I wanted UVA and UNC in the SEC

I agree fully that the sips aren't going anywhere while they are still holding onto the LHN. That is why I don't see OU going to the Pac anytime soon. I think the reason that the Pac balked at OU & OSU the last time was that they didn't think OSU was worth it. If OU is tied to OSU, then I don't see any conference taking them unless UTx is part of the package.
Posted on 5/7/13 at 4:41 pm to Bamatab
the sips are packaged to Baylor, Tech, and TCU. How do you think they can slime their way out of that one?

I agree. I respect OU for sticking with OSU to preserve the rivalry. Expansion has cost too many historic rivalries already. OU-Nebraska, WVU-VT, and WVU-Pitt, just to name a few. But, sticking with OSU could really hurt OU going into the future. I guess it's a catch 22.

Shouldn't have taken TCU eithere, and if they took WVU, they should have taken Louisville with them. No conference foes within a thousand miles is a recipe for disaster.

Don't post here much, but this applies to me, I suppose. Ostrich, you're fooling yourself if you think A&M isn't on a huge upswing right now. They beat our arse, give them credit. I hope their success makes our brass work their arse off. Our program is stale right now, we need to put some work in to get back to where we want to be.
And we're a 'midwest' school? fricking what? Everyone I know would consider that an insult (I forgive you cause you're a Texan, and you don't know any better). OK is a mix of Texas and Arkansas, neither of which is Midwest. We fit into the SEC more than any other conference, including the shitty one we're in now. We should have joined with A&M, but our liberal President had a hard-on for the Left Coast. You seriously want the B1G? Seriously? That'd be worse than the Pac-12, at least its not cold as shite there and they don't play slow-white-man football. Road trips to Tuscaloosa, Baton Rouge, Knoxville, etc. and tailgating with people who are like us OR freezing our arse off up north? How about getting called "redneck hicks" by the snobs out west (like Stanford fans did to the OSU crowd at the Fiesta Bowl)? That's not even mentioning the travel distance/time zones, which makes the SEC even more attractive. Hmmm, let me think about which conference sounds the best... It's too bad we'll probably never join, thanks to our ball-and-chain (the Ag school in Stillwater).
And even though I don't give a damn how good our conference is academically (I watch the other schools' athletes play football, I don't watch their Engineering students take tests), OU would be in the top half of the SEC. Those rankings are subjective as hell, the only schools clearly above us are Vandy, A&M, UF, UGA, and Mizzou.
Oh, and SEC baseball is the shite, so that'd be a huge plus for me if we joined. Believe me, most people here want the SEC, but we have a few yahoos (who I bet have no ties to the Southeast) who think we need to go west for some stupid reason. I've never heard B1G before. As for what Stoops said, he's just trying to make the best of the situation. Everyone agrees that the SEC is the best overall, we just get tired when the shitty teams in your conference flex their cocks when Bama wins yet another championship.
And that's all I have to say about that. Sorry for the novel.

I don't think TCU was a bad pick-up, and prolly one of the better options at the time. If Memphis even had a half-way decent football team, they would of been a decent addition. I guess you could say the same about Tulane(both start to get into the heart of SEC country)
WVU being so far from everyone else is the main reason IMO, it wasn't a good addition.

I figured once aTm jumped, then that kind of broke the yoke that tied the Texas schools together.
It's all a moot point anyways since the Big 12 has a grant of rights signed. Unless there is an out in the GOR, I don't see any conference take any team that doesn't have its media rights.
