Michigan and USC have put their feet down to reject the proposal, but it could genuinely tear that conference apart.

On the one hand, I hope this happens and maybe we can go back to more regional conferences, but on the other hand I hope Michigan and USC win that fight because private equity ruins everything it touches and we need to move away from it as a society.

I don't blame Kelly for wanting the entire buyout. That's what the contract states and that's what he's gonna have to be paid.

LSU was retarded to give him that contract but they did, and they'll pay it, too.

LSU doesn't have to respond to Kelly at all. The contract states that he can be paid monthly over a period of time. Kelly is asking for it all in a Lump sum. Why would LSU do that without a reduced buyout?

Dont blame him 1 bit and he should get it all. That's why Woodward was fired.

LSU is paying him now. You don't get to just bypass a contract because you feel like it.

just a reminder:

AU will have paid approximately $52 million to fire its last three HCs

LSU will be on the hook for $54 million to BK

combined with what they paid Miles ($4 million) and Orgeron ($17 million) the school is looking at a total amount of $75,000,000 to pay their last 3 HCs not to coach

LSU’s primary case would seem to be “he sucked and we really don’t like him personally so we shouldn’t have to pay him what we agreed to.”

Which probably won’t hold up in court lol
a

One key element is where was the contract signed and set to be arbitrated.

I remember years ago I went to an Aggie club event and our AD at the time Wally Groff was speaking. Someone asked him about what happened with LSU cancelling our series with 4 years left on the contract because we had beaten them 5 in a row. Wally said that he was furious and ready to sue because LSU did it very late in the cycle and he had almost no time to schedule someone and it put us in a real bind because almost no one was available and LSU had already lined up their replacement prior to cancelling.

He said LSU's response was essentially, "You have two choices. You can try and sue us in a Baton Rouge court or you can take a check for $100k and go away." He took the check. It was basically the scene from Oceans 13.

BTW, I was on tRant when Kelly was hired predicting this exact scenario playing out as LSU folks screamed at me.

If true you are screwing future coaches from thinking about coaching at lsu.

What a hilarious, cheap, and pathetic attempt by lsu higher up’s.

I guess it’s worth the ask especially if waiving the coaching at future college portion of the buyout.

However, this appears he has said no so LSU you are out of good faith negotiating, what follows will either be paying in full or trying to screw him in bad faith

I don’t wish infidelity but if it’s true I hope lsu tries that as it would be so clearly seen as what it is: an attempt to cheap out and screw him over.

I knew th when the rogaine reject moscona came out with that weird video where he was waving his hands around for twenty minutes and saying over and over that no taxpayer money was being ised the propaganda machine was in full swing in that athletic department. Woodward was on his way out and wasn’t the guy delivering the spin notes. It’s Louisiana . that big athletic fund they pound their chests about was emebezzled and sacked a longtime ago.
It’s all lies that they feed the populace.
Keep fighting the man though all it’s doing is making their options smaller and smaller

Screw those posters. Telling someone who gets fired mid contract to “do the right thing” and take less of what they agreed is preposterous.

Honest question: how many of those posters would “do the right thing” in their own lives

Answer is 0, zilch, not a Fing 1 of them

Are you shocked that there is a negotiation going on?

No, but we were told over a week ago the negotiation was over. BK was only getting 20 Mil and it was paid for by a single donor.

Sounds to me like that was all a big bullshite story and now the negotiation is either you pay BK his 54 million (or maybe a lump sum if he wants that instead) or he is gonna sue your arse.

What new story?

The one where y'all crawfish to explain this and how/why your story from last week was BS.

The years and dollar amount were just insane for a guy who never showed any capacity for winning big games at this level of competition and has a very well earned reputation as a world class a-hole. At least Jimbo had a championship on his resume.

Had the opportunity to fire him for cause for sexually harrassing recruits with the grind...even had video evidence.

Arkansas/Razorback Foundation had similar situation with Bielema. Whatever amount Bielema made offset the annual payout of the buyout. Contract also required Bielema to pursue equal position he held as head coach at Arkansas. Bielema accepted $150k year job with Patriots and Razorback Foundation filed lawsuit that was later settled.
