Bill Parcells’ rules for drafting a QB

quote:

Be a three-year starter
Be a senior in college
Graduate from college
Start 30 games
Win 23 games
Post a 2-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio
Complete at least 60 percent of passes thrown

Just interesting to see his requirements. He knew through experience these were necessary to ensure the qb would have the maturity and a proven record over time, not just a single good season. He knew his stuff!

He didn’t stack up well and didn’t pan out in the NFL. That’s kind of the point.

That's why all the talk about measurables is retarded, Josh Allen wasn't good in college and doubtful he ever will be in the pros. I'd be interested in a breakdown of pro success of early entrants vs seniors

Very few 1st round QB talents start for three years anymore. They sit their freshman year, start sophomore and junior years, and then declare. That system may have worked in the 80s but not so much anymore.

What QBs did Parcells draft that were pro bowlers or hall of famers?

This is the kind of typical LSU trash response. The guy was starting a legitimate topic for discussion and you roll in and start slinging shite immediately.

I find it hard to believe that that's the "typical LSU response" when several other LSU fans responded and didnt say shite about Johnny.

Jim Kelly is all I can think of off the top of my head

How did Parcells draft him? The Bills drafted him and retained his rights when he went to the USFL.

He drafted Drew Bledsoe and signed Tony Romo as a UFA. They both turned out pretty good.

Interestingly, he drafted Jeff Hostetler who only started two years at WVU, so didn't meet all of Parcells' criteria. He won a Super Bowl and made a Pro Bowl though.
