Dubose calling a sweep or play action to Scissum(?) with a lead against the Aubs late in the game.

Dumb, dumb, dumb.

For bonehead play calling: Joe Lee Dunn going with a prevent defense late in the 4th quarter with a 7 point lead in the 1997 Egg Bowl.

I didn't really keep up with him in his last stint at Memphis. But, he could come up with some really weird looking formations from time to time when he was at State.

Dubose was clueless on that play. He had headset off & didnt kniw screen had been called. He wore a headset after that but it didnt really help much.

As he was for pretty much his entire Bama HCing career. That SEC championship team of '99 was definitely won by the players, despite Dubose's...ineptitude.

In terms of the last play where he spiked it....was there anything they could really do? I always thought 1 second ticked off before a ball was even snapped. Or does the clock not start until the ball hits the QB's hand?

The clock starts as soon as the ref blows the whistle and circles his arm.
