the biggest fight i was ever in (in ttown at least) happened after some jackass fired a gun into the air trying to "restore order." one of my buddies snuck up behind the dude with the gun and knocked his arse out cold. then everyone at the party rushed his buddies. they ran in their house and a mob of drunk people kicked in their windows and knocked down a street light. it was pretty crazy. but we're from prattville, we're always fighting.

That explains everything. Everywhere I go with Prattville people there is at least one fight.

that bar used to be awesome people watching when I was there. Cowboy the drunk, unintelligible bar fly, Black Magic doing cig tricks, and a host of other long timers. Drinks were stout as hell too.

If it wasn't in Alabama, it was at the Tiki Bar in PC. Prattville people love fighting at the Tiki Bar.

I like Egans for what it is, but I don't like going there a lot because it just smells like shite, and its hot as frick, and its usually too crowded. Has nothing to do with the people.

This. If you're going to go there it's best to get there early and try and get the corner by the door.

Update from Student News

Got this email from the University.

quote:

The security and well-being of our students and employees is one of our highest priorities. In emergency situations, UA will provide accurate, timely information to key stakeholders so they can make the most informed decisions possible regarding their personal safety and well-being.

Early this morning, University Police received reports of shots fired in close proximity to the campus. Because of the potential ongoing threat to the campus and surrounding community, which is home to many students and employees, UA deployed UA Alerts, our emergency notification alert system. When officers confirmed that both suspects were in custody and the firearms had been recovered, UA used the same system to notify students and employees that the threat of danger had passed.

The UA Alerts system has been in place since 2008. The system is tested the first Wednesday of every month, so that students and employees clearly understand how the University will communicate with them in emergency and crisis situations. Since students and employees are on our campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year and the system is unable to determine who is currently on campus or where individuals are in relation to the situation, UA Alerts is activated for all persons who are currently enrolled and employed when there is a significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of students or employees.

A description of the incident follows.

On April 19, 2012, at approximately 2:10 a.m., Tuscaloosa Police and University Police responded to the 1200 block of University Blvd. on a report of a fight and shots fired. A 20-year-old male was injured during the physical altercation and was transported to DCH with non-life threatening injuries. No weapons were involved in the fight.

During the altercation, two males who were not involved in the fight pulled handguns and fired in the air, allegedly to disperse the crowd. The two males were apprehended by University Police officers, and both firearms were recovered.

Another victim, a 31-year-old male, was found lying unconscious on the sidewalk in the 1300 block of University Blvd. He has severe head injuries. It is unknown at this time if he was injured in the altercation, but his injuries were not the result of weapons being discharged.

The two males who discharged the firearms have been charged with reckless endangerment.

I'm sorry but The Strip is fine if you know where to go. Anywhere down the road in front of the Tooth is a dumb idea. Both those bars down there suck more than Harry's. Which is saying A LOT.

Lord I used to LOVE a 'Crazy Bucket' from Harry's back in the day. Good stuff to get you fricked up quick.

off bol

quote:

I was working down in that area last night and like most people around there we walked out when the first police car arrived. I have ZERO information as to who was there, hurt, and involved. I can tell you what we heard. Shots were supposedly fired into the air as a way of stopping the fight. We were told that nobody was shot at. Two guys were in the road and beaten pretty bad and I mean bad. By the time that we actually saw the guys in the road that were beaten a ton of cops were on the scene and we couldn't get close enough to see who the guys were, but you could tell that at least one of the guys was beat really bad.

Of course, soon after the rumors began to circulate. People began saying that White was one that was beat. We also heard that Dre Kirkpatrick might have been in the bar as well. We also heard rumors (key word is rumors) that quite a few Alabama football players were in the bar, but weren't necessarily responsible for anything that happened. Another rumor was that some Mississippi State football players were in the bar.

So, basically all anybody knows is that shots were said to be fired into the air. Two guys were definitely passed out in the road after getting beat pretty badly. Who was beaten? We also know that rumors run rampant with things like this, but hopefully the two guys will be okay. When we started hearing the rumors of football players I left the scene. Incidents like this will always involve a crazy story about this or that and I don't believe unless I see it or hear it from somebody other than some random person on the strip. Like I said though, the guy in front of Egans that was knocked out on the street looked like he took a bad beating. Also, we were pretty close to there and never heard gun shots, but a bunch of people said that somebody did fire shots into the air almost as a way of stopping the fight. When the first cop showed up, though, the fight was still going on.

Late 60's I was in the Chukkas with a friend just hanging out. There were two good looking girls sitting together. All of a sudden one leaned over and stuck her tounge in the other girls ear.
I almost fell off my stool. They soon left the bar arm in arm. Best bar in T-town in that day.
