Whatever makes the 5 losses in a row feel better, buddy.

Better hire than Miles at that time, no?

My favorite part is about Malzahn running a spread offense. The quoted poster wanted a reason to bring Gus down as a quick fix coach, but didn't bother finding out what type offense he runs.

Gonna get a lot of arguments and trolling about this one, but he's essentially right on a coupel points. The systems Malzahn and Freeze run are designed for quick results but that very aspect of their implementation also leaves them vulnerable to long-term struggles unless there's more at play. Both OM and AU are compensating for this by bringing in real talent, so they may well find extended success...talent is what helps compensate when other teams have figured out your scheme. It is, quite frankly, the secret to TAMU's success. There's no real quandary to dealing with that offense; the quandary is dealing with the individual stars. OM and AU will struggle if their talent doesn't step up/pan out simply because the offenses won't be able to sustain themselves once the other teams adjust (see OM's struggles vs Bama and AU's string of mental mistakes vs LSU.)
Bielema, otoh, has the job of building the team up almost from scratch. The main fallacy in the guy's argument here is it assumes Arkansas can develop the sort of players (again, talent, but also the system) that can compete against similar teams. It's not a question of needing, or not needing, quick fixes, incidentally. Arkansas is in the SEC-W. The fans will turn on Bielema just as quickly as Auburn fans turned on Chizik or OM fans turned on Nutt (and, for that matter, Arkansas fans turned on Nutt.)

While this is true Chizik has proven himself as a terrible coach. Worst coach to win a national title by far. And with Nutt has always had a few good years and then sits in mediocrity. We don't know what the long term will be Bielema in the SEC yet.

Writer seems to be trying too hard. I'm sure Bielema will be winning with all these 5 stars in no time.

Gus' spread offense ran between the tackles 15 times in the 4th Q last week.

I like how he pointed to Bob Stoops and Urban Meyer as quick fix coaches who can't sustain success to support his opinion.

Nailed it, what long term fix is gonna be successful without stellar recruiting? I see Freeze, Sumlin, and Malzahn running circles around Bielema on the recruiting trail. This article is laughable. You're not passing Ole Miss, Auburn, or A&M for the foreseeable future.

If the Razorbacks’ priority was winning in 2013, then Bret Bielema was a poor choice. Comparing Bielema’s first-year success to the first-year success of coaches like Gus Malzahn and Hugh Freeze is foolish. Try again in year four. History has shown that more pro-style, old-fashioned systems take much longer to install, but also have more long-term success.
Here is your problem, Adam. Both Urban Meyer and Bob Stops have been running thier spread up tempo offenses for more than 4 years and are still have huge amounts of success. Urban has been doing at now 3 different major schools. History, also, shows that both Bob and Urban have a lot more hardware than Bret.
