My money would be on Petrino to be better than Crowton. It seems like I've looked up some of Crowtons historical stats and teams are always a little better offensively the year after he leaves.

I will sleep better tonight! And Petrino left every team in better shape when he left.....Atlanta??????

Good God. I notice how you just totally disregard the FACT that Crowton put the defense in terrible positions with interceptions from a QB whose confidence was gone after being asked to repeatedly make plays that he wasn't capable of making, and the pick 6's

1) Crowton didn't throw the INTs. Lee threw them.

2) Lee could make and did routinely make the plays on which he threw the INTs. The kid was just inconsistent. Again, I don't see how this was Crowton's fault.

Gene Stallings would of won 10 games with that LSU team.

Gene Stallings was a cheater and he resigned in disgrace. Early 90s Bama was cheating and they were caught. You deserved it.

Probably because dennis dixon sucked in 06 because it was his first year and then was almost a heisman the next.

eta: and the same thing happened at byu with john beck.

If Arkansas fans would only chime in this thread would have some potential, IMO.

Cajun, once again showing your ignorance on a subject matter you have no knowledge on.

Good Lord Saban. Ross this is sooo easy, Petrino of course. Has Petrino ever mistreated and head fricked a QB like Crowton did last year?

What an idiotic comment. You need an education.

First, I've already explained numerous times over that JL not only wasn't first string or second string, he was third string, playing with the scount squad until June (when spring was over and before August camp started. His reps were minimal to none (like McElroy) He had 3 weeks of practce and Crowton had larger issues, like trying to get Hatch involved with the offense.

Lee was designed to come in a few series against App State, Auburn, and continued down the road. The second problem was Hatch's concussion in the
Auburn game.

JL was not ready to be a starter, especially in an offense like Crowton's.

I'd like to see what Saban would do if he went through 4 quarterbacks between June and November.
I assure you, while IMO Petrino has his upside,
Crowton has just and many, and both or better than what you have at Alabama, or Saban has had in his coaching career, and that does include Jimbo Fischer.

quote:

Come HBT, a good offensive mind gives his team a chance to win by playing to his teams strengths, do you honestly believe that Crowton did that last year?

Again, you lose all credibility here as well. Crowton basically cut the playbook in half and it became painfully obvious that he was so erratic we needed JJ.

You'll see soon enough. I assure you. Lord Saban will be bowing again to LSU very soon. ANd you'll disappear, unable to accept the fact we are right.

Your comments are totally ignorant, and spew of opinions that have no basis whatsoever.

this statement is simply stupid. esp. given the factors of why he was even playing last year and the fact that he did so well in practice. if your QB, mcelhey or whatever his name is goes down this year, we'll see how your backup does.

It's Spurrier because bfore him the SEC was a running league, after him it was all about the pass. He changed the SEC with his offense.

I'm not debating Spurrier's prowess; I am merely asking who the SEC Rant believes is a better offensive mind between two coaches, and neither of those two coaches are named Steve Spurrier.

fwiw.

It should include Steve Spurrier if you are discussing offensive mind.

Well; I was interested in seeing how people thought of these two coaches; not so much about Spurrier since I already have a good understanding of how good he is and where most people on this board would place him. If it makes you feel any better, yes; Spurrier revolutionized the SEC.

his 30 ppg makes up for anything negative he did. Did he make a few mistakes last year? yea sure he did. Is he as bad as you want to make him out to be? No.

Also his playcalling wasnt bad Lee just sucked it up. You are trying to go over the top and call me a homer yet you have no stats to back up any of it.

I have stats that say gary was just fine even if he didn't make all the right calls 30ppg and his o was good despite a walk on qb and a shitty qb.

And the fact BAMA had a top 10 defense had nothing to do with that? Seriously?
