Better Offensive Mind: Bobby Petrino or Gary Crowton?

Both have had success at almost every college stop; and both have had success in the NFL as offensive coordinators. I realize that Petrino would be seen as the better "head coach" (even though Crowton has been a somewhat average college head coach at Louisiana Tech and BYU, winning a conference title at BYU); but if you had to choose one based on their pure offensive mind; which coach would you rather have?

Good Lord Saban. Ross this is sooo easy, Petrino of course. Has Petrino ever mistreated and head fricked a QB like Crowton did last year?

we scored 30 points a game with a combo of a walk on qb and a color blind qb that panics when he is going to get hit.

I don't think Petrino is a bad coach by any stretch, but I don't think he is some genius either. The Louisville stats were questionable considering his opponents and he absolutely stunk it up in the NFL.

By the way, good to see you Ross, worried you were MIA

As an offensive coordinator he did great in the NFL. As a head coach, not so much.

Come HBT, a good offensive mind gives his team a chance to win by playing to his teams strengths, do you honestly believe that Crowton did that last year?

You obviously didn't watch our games last year. Teams were stacking the line with 8 and 9 men in the box to slow down our run. WTF would you have done Coach?

when you score 30 points a game you should win. gary didn't let LSU down last year. Our d was the problem.

Gary put us in a position to win. The D gave no help.

But Louisville wasn't some juggernaut either.

I mean; having Louisville win a BCS Bowl and be ranked so highly during his tenure is worthy of some accolades.

even with that we still put up tons of points. Id call 30 a game doing everything to put us in a position to win. If your D isn't complete crap that should be plenty too win.

Cajun is just flaming like usual.

I agree, however, Louisville getting a BCS bowl is viewed in the same vein as Boise State. Yeah, they had a nice season, they are everyone's darling, but when it comes right down to it, they couldn't hang in a major conference.

Louisville wasnt that bad. They went 1-3 against top 25 teams in 2002.

So they go from playing 4 ranked teams in a season to playing 2 a year.

That alone gives them 2 more wins a season
