no but he can hire a guy who can go into Florida and snatch highly ranked recruits from the instate schools.

Apparently the recruits don't agree. If he was a much better coach, seems like he'd be out-recruiting ole buTch.

Arkansas' national presence is greater than Tennessee's right now and it's not even close.
As a laughing stock maybe thanks to Petrino.

Dude, EVERYBODY goes into FL. it's not like Bielema did awesome in FL when he was at Wisconsin. He wasn't pulling 4 and 5 star guys.
FSU, UF, Miami, GA, Clemson, USCe, Bama, LSU, Auburn, Tenn, tOSU, and Michigan all have better success in FL than Arkansas has had. They all are closer except tOSU and Mich, and those guys are well-established destination jobs and brand names.
Then Arky can go try and grab a few guys. Hell, Tenn has guys from MD, FL, VA, OH, DC, and GA this year so far. The national perception of UT is still high apparently.

I really don't think this is getting enough attention. Tennessee recruiting is getting good and its gonna blow up over the next 10 years. Mid-Tennessee is one of the fastest growing regions in the nation.

And who is doing that?

There's no doubt about it that A&M has grown tremendously, but you act as though no kids wants to play for UT still.
UT is still a HUGE power in the state.
It isn't the case that "no kid wants to play at UTx". But it is the case that for the majority of them, including those from Dallas, their first choice is A&M. This is shaping up to be Mack Brown's WORST recruiting class in his entire history at UTx. He even recruited well after the 5-7 crash in 2010.
I agree that if UTx had been winning, A&M wouldn't be having as much head-to-head success, but I don't think we'd go back to the dynamic of UTx just picking who they wanted. For example, OU is coming off three straight 10+ win seasons, with two conference championships, and A&M is STILL basically shutting them out in Texas. Stoops used to regularly come down and raid the state for 5-10 studs that A&M wanted, but right now they're getting stonewalled.
I agree that A&M has to keep winning in the SEC to maintain momentum, but if that happens, there really isn't much UTx or OU can do to counter.

That's great and all, but they'll still have less talent in a 250 mile radius than LSU, Aub, TAMU, Bama, UF, UGA, and USCe.

Silly question. UT is a national brand and has alot of tradition and history. Second winningest program in the SEC, historically. They are one good hire away from being a top 10 team most years. Arkansas has some potential, but they don't have the national brand and history to fall back on like the Vols.

Maryland, Virginia and DC? That's pretty regional.

That darn Petrino. He made us such a laughing stock that I'm sure Georgia must have wiped the floor with us the last time we met.
Oh wait

Precisely. Plus, historically, when OU is down TAMU is up and vice versa.
Right now, the perfect storm for TAMU is happening in that Mack is sucking dick at coaching (UT still has top talent), Bob Stoops has completely lost it (Recruiting wise), and the move to the SEC for the aggies gives them the biggest recruiting draw.
However, the flip side is that the aggies still have LSU and Bama to face every year, and neither of those schools are going anywhere. So it'll be a legit 3 way fight every year if the Ags can find a good QB to replace Manziel after his time is up.

Ehhh....I don't know about that. If you're counting Memphis as Tennessee, then yes, but Memphis belongs to Ole Miss, Bama, and Arky just as much as it does UT.
This.
I don't get why everyone thinks UT has such a grip on Memphis. Its closer to at least three other SEC schools than Knoxville. It will always be a fight for any school going in there.
UT's main focus is Nashville to Charlotte, and Atlanta to Roanoke. Plenty of great talent is in that region.

Ok? We will still pull players from these areas like we always do. We'll just have a deeper in-state pool, so we can have more flexibility with the out of state recruits.

Kinda. That' s like calling mobile, AL regional to Fayetteville. But yes, they do have all that mid-eastern seaboard close to them, which is something Arky doesn't have.
Plus, UT pulled lots of out of state guys last year and out-recruited Arky.

My point was, it really doesn't give Tennessee anymore advantage IMO.

I know I'm biased, but I really don't think this is close.

I would argue that there is more talent within the 250 mile radius of Knoxville than Columbia.
