No dumbass, SEC pass defense stats are skewed by poor QB play. It has been that way for a few years now.
Yet Auburn posters are in here saying you should be much higher and Georgia should be lower. I guess Auburn's stats are not skewed? Where did you say you finished in pass defense last year?
Let me help you. Georgia's Pass defense was no good because the stats are skewed by weak QB play in the SEC. So why did Auburn finish 63rd?

Then the Auburn posters come on here and start saying Georgia is no good, but Auburn's secondary should be rated higher?

Out of curiosity...where would Auburn's pass defense have been ranked had you played in a conference with decent QB play?

Who is claiming AU secondary was good last year? They should be better this year and showed signs some last year because of WM. AU secondary hasn't been good since 2004 and cost AU a NC in 2013. And a chance in 2014.

Brandon Harris went 6/19 for 128 yards, 1 TD/1 INT and a 95.01 Rating against Alabama.
But congrats on that one throw.

Well. Lets just take a look at some Auburn fans posts in this thread, shall we?
Auburn is being severely underrated here. Don't think they'll be the best, but certainly top half.
Bowl Jackson
Don't forget Jamel Dean, transfer from Ohio State.
Starters should look like this:
CB: Jamel Dean
CB: Carlton Davis
S: Rudy Ford
S: Tray Matthews
In the nickel, Rudy Ford goes to nickel with Stephen Roberts filling in at safety.
TT'Tpwel
So, at least a couple of Auburn posters think you should be in the conversation. But. Ok. Lets leave Auburn out of this. you want to denigrate Georgia coming in #1 in the country in pass defense. You want to question why we feel like we should be considered in the Top 5 of the SEC?
We finished #1 in the country last season and have ALL of our secondary coming back. You can belittle the accomplishment by saying we are only looking that good because the SEC is a weak passing conference.....ok. Fine. But we still finished higher than anybody else in the conference, didn't we? Auburn finished 63rd. So why don't you worry more about YOUR pass defense and quit belittling ours? By the way....63rd in the nation put you squarely in 10th or 11th in the SEC. You know the conference that is bad in passing?

Yea - Georgia will be solid. They did have some insane splits.
BAD PASSING TEAM RATINGS VS UGA (Natl Rating Rank)
ULM - 154.84 (#109)
Vandy - 92.16 (#117)
South Carolina - 68.44 (#84)
Southern - 72.33 (1AA)
Missouri - 88.51 (#120)
Florida - 128.01 (#72)
Kentucky - 58.62 (#114)
Auburn - 67.44 (#79)
Ga Southern - 109.94 (#128)
Georgia Tech - 67.71 (#95)
Penn State - 119.53 (#78)
AVERAGE TO GOOD PASSING TEAMS VS UGA (Natl Rating Rank)
Alabama - 189.13 (#34)
Tennessee - 140.73 (#64)
Georgia didn't play a single Top 25 pass rating efficiency team and only 1 Top 50 pass rating team. They played 6 #100+/1AA passing teams, 10 #75+/1AA teams. And the 2 they played that could throw a little, Alabama and Tennessee, both put up pretty big numbers.
Those stats are pretty empty.

White is one of the most overrated players in the SEC
Yikes! Dude, White is underrated. He is an extraordinary cover guy. Patrick Peterson is the only LSU guy who has covered better than White.
LSU's DBs are an embarrassment of riches. They have three veteran corners who could be first rounders. They have a safety who will go in the top half of the first round next year. They have a top five safety recruit as a freshman this year. And they have two freshmen who were among the top five corners in the 2016 class. They also have a five star recruit as a sophomore who can't climb past that talent logjam.

And that is with the LSU and Missouri games skewing the numbers in our favor. We should be better this thankfully.

I think it'll be a really good group, but they gave up a BUNCH of yards last year to a BUNCH of teams.

Not really much of a difference here. And it isn't fair for the teams that didn't have to play Kelly.

If you look at the SEC Rankings in Pass Rating against vs SEC teams, #1, #2, #4, #6 and #7 are all from the East. The East had some atrocious QB play, which directly led to some over inflation of numbers. The West didn't have elite QB play, but between Allen, Kelly, Prescott and even Coker occasionally, it had mostly competent QB play.
The only Western Division Teams in the Top 7 are Alabama at #2 and Texas A&M at #5.

Reading comprehension! They said they were being overlooked THIS YEAR, mainly due to experience, Heath and influx of new talent.
