This is that where exception doesn’t prove the rule point comes in.
Do you not understand how yards per carry works?
If you're in a 3rd a short situation, your defense will most likely benefit from the play call. Let's say 5 out of 6 times, it gets you off the field. Probably not that high, but doesn't really matter.
They are not calling defenses to give the RB the shortest yards per carry in a game, they are calling it based on the situation. What they are seeing is 83% chance of success on that play call.
However, when it comes to yards per carry, most runs a RB makes are below his average, more than half of them. Because of the above, 5 out 6 times short yards. They get those bigger YPC on the runs where they break away from the defenders, that drives the average up. AKA the 1 in 6.
So again, you are talking about individual play odds vs a final stat.

He's top-5 but Nick Chubb was a beast. If he hadn't shredded his knee on that abortion of a field in Knoxville, he would of broken Herschel's all time rushing yards. He ended up 600 short.
Great kid to boot.
Great kid to boot.

OP trying to troll the "real SEC" by naming mostly "fringe SEC" players. Instead, starts a 30 something debate over Derrick Henry.
Herschel Walker is hands down the best RB in the "old SEC" (pre-Oklahoma/Texas).

quote:Yes. And I told you why it happened. Tell you what. Buck Belue threw the ball 156 times. Show me a RB that ran for more yards passed if the team passed the ball 150 or more times. Obtuse much?
You asked when it happened and I answered.
I've come to recognize you as a horrible troll.
Well, either you are a troll trying to play "Gotcha!" or maybe just dumb. Either way, you aren't worth wasting time on.
quote:So, now you want to play evens? Why didn't you want to on rushing yards and passing attempts?
How many attempts did Walker have in those 36 games vs Henry in his 39?

I don't know why you are continuing to address the answer when all I did was answer your question.
No, you cited numbers of games and I just asked for details on those games. If you don't want to answer it's your prerogative.

All three are elite. So fun to have watched each play college ball.
Earl Campbell
Herschel Walker
Bo Jackson

The top 3 running backs in SEC history are Herschel, Bo, and McFadden. None of your arguments are going to change that.

Yet when they got to the highest level of competition DH proved he was the best and unless something unforeseen happens he will be a Hall of Famer.

Best SEC running back means best while in college.
Walker, Jackson, McFadden top that list.

I read that McFadden ran a 10.8 in the 100m. No training. Just woke up and said im going to run this race today. Insane.

Essentially talking about what generally happens on short yardage plays:
More bodies on D and O, less room, smaller holes, less yards.

Based on what? Henry tops the list of most yards in a season in SEC history after the most yards in high school history and likely NFL Hall of Fame.

40 years later, Walker still has the most career rushing yards in the SEC. He left after 3 years.
Derrick Henry is 22nd.
Twenty second.
Henry had one great season.
Walker had the best career of any rusher in the SEC.
This isn't about high school. It isn't about the NFL.
It's about the best rusher in SEC history. That's Walker.
You're on an island and you're on it alone.

Different era of the game. Defenses were slower and less athletic than they are now. I don't think you can say "Who is the best all time" without breaking them down into eras.
Look at MLB. Babe Ruth was a great homerun hitter. But the average pitcher in the 20's and 30's threw around 80mph. He hit 60 HRs in 1927. Could he do that against todays fastball pitchers?

Herschel could hit a home run over them mountains, that's for sure.

By not starting his first two seasons in the NFL either?
Nick Chubb YPC 5.3, 1200 per season in 4 Seasons
Derrick Henry YPC 4.9 1100 per season in 6 Seasons.
Henry’s 28, he may not see 10k yards in his NFL career. 2 of the Top 60 backs in the NFL are 29 or older. He still hasn’t been to the Super Bowl and he’s coming off a foot injury. There is zero guarantee he’s makes the HOF

He played 1 ranked SEC team in that entire time. Not to say more SEC teams weren't ranked, but Georgia never played. He never once played against Alabama for example.
Acting like the SEC was as strong as it has been over the past 20 years is just plain wrong. Walker didn't play against the same level of competition.
It's like when a G5 team goes undefeated without really playing anyone. There are probably many of others who could have accomplished the same thing on such weak schedules.

Derrick Henry is 22nd.
He had more carries than DH, by far, so he would have more career yards.
It is about the best rb so how they fared against the highest level of competition should be at least considered.
Walker played against weaker competition.
Any island I may be on is based on opinion, not numbers, or facts, since those favor Henry.
