Without question. I wasn't predicting who would win, just giving my opinion on how I would rank the coaching performances.

To me COY the year goes more into just record. Look at who you beat, what all you lost the previous year and what injuries/big distractions (ex lsu at start of the year).

Miles (all the distractions and still kept his team on track with one of the toughest schedules in football)
Franklin (need I say more?)
Spurrier ( lost his qb and RB and no productions from Jeffrey)
Pertrino (lost Davis and key O line starter before season)
Richt
Chizik
Everybody else

COY will be dependent on the winner of the SECCG. I think Miles wins it, but Richt's case would be hard to beat if UGA were to pull the upset

That is about what I expected from them. They met expectations.

I don't think anybody (aside from a handful of perpetually optimistic LSU fans)

LSU to go undefeated, especially when looking at the schedule and the QB issues that popped up just prior to beginning it.

If Richt and UGA somehow win, I'll concede any argument towards Richt.

He will deserve it then.

Oh. I know. So was I, and I don't believe that Miles' standing with the voters is completely dependent on winning from this point forward either.

It was more likely than Vandy winning six and playing well enough that they easily could have beaten Arky, UF, UT and UGA had one more play gone their way in each game.

Again, in my mind it is close between Les and Franklin, I just give Franklin the edge because of the hand he was dealt.

Miles drove a Ferari and navigated his way flawlessly through the race. Franklin was given a Yugo and made it look like a Camry during the race.

Is some of the adversity you claim Spurrier faced not of his own making?

The QB situation surely was. I know yall like to blame Garcia, well one person was responsible for him being there.

Losing Lattimore is the big one. He was our whole offense at one point.

And like it or not, he prepared Shaw well. Garcia was just stubborn. Shaw is actually improving week by week.

So true. HBC had much more to overcome than just a head-case quarterback. I'd give him props for getting to 10 wins given all that. Probably good enough to be considered one of the top SEC coaching jobs this year

I think you have to look at the programs potential and past history, as well as what the coach had to overcome during the season.

1) Miles - first time LSU has been 12-0 (I think), out coached Saban and Petrino head to head, dealt with a huge mess early in the season while opening with a top 5 matchup.

2) Franklin - Is taking Vandy to a bowl game for the fifth time in school history. Should have beaten Arkansas. It wasn't coaching mistakes that caused a fumble inside the 5 and a missed chip shot field goal

3) Petrino - just the third Time since 1989 that Arkansas has had a 10 win season. Dealt with a ton of key injuries, including the teams best offensive and defensive players

4) Spurrier - got USCe to 10 wins despite losing the best back in the SEC and having to deal with a mess at QB

5) Saban - Great season, but has had better years in 2 of the last 5 seasons. Was out coached by Miles in their head to head

6) Richt - great job at keeping the team together after starting 0-2. May move up depending on performance against LSU. I would like to put him higher, but can't right now because of Boise St loss and not having to play the top 3 teams in the west.

7-11 everyone else not named Nutt

12 - Nutt
