The best band from the South in the past decade is Steel Woods. I am Texas through and through but no better music than Steel Woods, hands down.

No, but if you turn into an alcoholic, leave your wife, and then leave the band all because of a two week fling with Miranda Lambert...you fricked up. They were kicking out great music constantly and then it all just died for years, it sucked, I am hoping they can get it together now that he's got his head back on straight.
It's not a competition, I love them both, Shane Smith has an incredible and unique voice though.
