Anytime a basketball thread is made Ranters will gather to tell you how LSU would win the "Hypothetical All Time SEC All Star Team Tournament" with Shaq and Pistol.

Great basketball programs are able to put together championship level teams in real life, not just in their fan's imaginations.

Well, they're not a second tier basketball school.

Big no on Mo Williams for me, same for Gerald Wallace. I suspect some older Bama fans would say Leon Douglas, but that's before my time. I would add McDyess to the list (at least ahead of Williams or Wallace). Sophomore Ronald Steele was about as good as any of them, then it all fell apart.

Any chance JFF sees the hardwood at aTm? Would be kind of cool. Matt Jones and more recently out current backup QB Brandon Mitchell have played for the Hog bball team.

Lol at you for thinking you aren't a second tier

I can start listing our Final Fours, AA's, Tournament NCAA Titles, EEs, SSs, etc. if you want me to.

We're top tier, just because we had a decade in basketball like LSU 90's football doesn't change that.

ETA: Have to show one of the greatest SI covers of all-time. Sidney

LSU clearly has the top 2 with Pistol & Shaq

I'd argue, Chris Jackson was a better college player than Shaq.

Dude was so good. Wasn't it a shoulder injury that basically did him in?

Probably not. He is expected to play baseball and can start at short.

He is scratch golfer too.

Steele pretty much was a star as a sophomore. He was so good.

The pool of guys I would think of from Alabama: Leon Douglas, Derrick McKey, Robert Horry, Latrell Sprewell, Antonio McDyess.

Sure I'm forgetting somebody (Sam Haginas?).

Although really if you have McDyess you could throw in Steele if you wanted (not saying he should be but it wasn't like McDyess was around for a long time either).

Knee problems. Never really recovered from them.

Apparently he's doing a bit better now, playing somewhere in Italy.
